I'm talking about its performance in general not just the debut week, peaks aren't a very good measure of how successful a song was. It fell off fast and underperformed for a lead single of a big artist... Many fans for consider it much of a hit

 

Either way regardless of how u measure its success... The fact that it was frontloaded success and burned out fast made it a little underwealming in terms of excitement especially considering nothing happened with single era after video due to corona

 

The entire thing was just unexciting and I wonder if for many it affected how they viewed the song even if subconsciously

I think SL actually has the best production on Chromatica. Her voice sounds amazing, better than ever. The lyrics suck a bit but it's a super fun, excellently produced song.

That's my issue with the SL video. It wasn't good quality to me at all. ROM was miles better

regarding the video,  to me it’s obvious they went retro, hence the cheapness of it. we all know gaga has the budget, so money wasn’t the issue for sure. i think the problem is they didn’t go FULL ON retro, they kind of went midway (maybe interscope didn’t let them) and this to some may have come across as cheap instead.

Regardless of what method they used to generate the immages or film it, it did not look real

Well also the fact that it leaked one month prior to release didnt help. It was great when it leaked in full but when it came out basically in the same version one month later it was already old

Personally I loved the song when it first came out but then after a few listens I was over it. It's my least fav on Chromatica and I almost always skip it. The production is beyond mediocre, the lyrics are lame, and the video didn't help it in any way. I genuinely don't care about chart rankings and they don't influence my song liking at all.
