What’s up with these new remixes? Such clever marketing. Both the K&Q & Levitating remix were that bad they made me stream the original more to cleanse my ears.

OT: Congrats Ava, the song is a bop and a half :firega:

Used to be HighRoad

The idea that a new artist has to prove demand for their music before getting the green light for an album is so backwards. As much as I love the concept behind an 'era' as revolutionized by our queen, not every 18 - 24 year old is going to have the right vocals + stage presence + writing + personal style, etc. to become an overnight brand.

Artists like Christina / Britney developed into seasoned pop-stars capable of iconic eras because they were able to release debut albums that were just a mix of what they could offer. 'Christina Aguilera' produced 3 #1 hits with no connection between them or common theme; but, they showed she could put out bops, ballads, etc., and built a base to allow her sophomore album to be a more artist statement. Despite a horribly chosen lead single, 'Stripped' was a successful followup and its singles (excl. Dirrty) supported its message / theme.

Sweet But Psycho proved Ava Max was marketable and it's a shame that once it blew up, she didn't have a body of work with songs like Salt / Torn to keep people interested as she promoted SBP / when So Am I was selected as the 2nd single. Those decisions - focusing on SBP + choosing So Am I - were clearly out of her hands and shouldn't have prevented either Salt or Torn from having a shot at being Top 40 hits.

Salt, Torn, and Kings & Queens are all above-average pop songs / no worse than what's being put out by others like Dua Lipa. New Rules was as big as SBP, and Salt / Torn / K&Q would've been as successful as Break My Heart at the very least if attached to a proper album and promo plan, IMO. I'm glad she's finally finding some official success, because it must be extremely frustrating to be in such a lose-lose situation.

The comparison is incorrect. Britney/Christina had a career like 20 years ago, too many things have changed.
Ava was supposed to release her debut album after a while of So Am I, but the song underperformed with the rest of singles, but K&K became huge, so that's why they release the album now.
