Economy 52,838
Basically saying she is a woman of faith herself and she started quotting stuff about love and respect She also pointed out many Conservatives only bring up religious freedom when it's to justify bigotry while hypocritically ignoring other religious commands when it doesn't suit them
Bt1 5,213
Pete Buttigieg also had similar ideas. Republicans shouldnt have a monopoly on religion. I would say that in a perfect world, religion shouldnt be able to influence politics, but we dont live in that world, so democrats should work a little more to gain more votes from religious people. weed 78,873
I’m ready for there to be a nationwide discussion on why “super religious people” eat shrimp, mix fabrics, eat meat on Fridays, and literally every other hypocrisy. Do they stone their children when they’re disobedient? Do they wait until marriage for sex? No, they just love being secure in their bigotry.

Batwings 12,957
I live in the Bible Belt, and it's completely true. Conservative bigots will not stop pushing their religious beliefs when it comes to discriminating against others, but when it comes to other things like kindness and charity -- you know, the MAIN THINGS THAT JESUS TAUGHT -- they couldn't care less. REALITY 80,162
Religious hypocrites are one of my biggest pet peeves. Republicans and conservatives who are religious are hypocrites, they just are. She's 100% correct and it annoys me that not enough people see that. 𝔗𝔥𝔢 𝔪𝔬𝔫𝔰𝔱𝔢𝔯 𝔱𝔬𝔯𝔢 𝔞𝔴𝔞𝔶 𝔦𝔱𝔰 𝔪𝔞𝔰𝔨 𝔞𝔫𝔡...𝔦𝔱𝔰 𝔣𝔞𝔠𝔢 𝔴𝔞𝔰 𝔪𝔦𝔫𝔢.
REALITY 80,162
Religious conservatives are pro-life, but also anti-gun control. Pro-life, but spend all their time preaching about a bunch of cells instead of, say, living children in foster homes who actually need help. Pro-life, but also don't really care about immigrants. Pro-life, but not if that life isn't straight, white, and Christian. Pro-life, but would rather save that same bunch of cells instead of the woman's life if it came down to it. And this is only the pro-life/pro-choice issue 𝔗𝔥𝔢 𝔪𝔬𝔫𝔰𝔱𝔢𝔯 𝔱𝔬𝔯𝔢 𝔞𝔴𝔞𝔶 𝔦𝔱𝔰 𝔪𝔞𝔰𝔨 𝔞𝔫𝔡...𝔦𝔱𝔰 𝔣𝔞𝔠𝔢 𝔴𝔞𝔰 𝔪𝔦𝔫𝔢.

Not sure those are the best examples of hypocrisy as a major interpretation among many Christian denominations is that those those things were part of the "mosaic" law which was abolished after Christ and therefore would not apply to people now But I get what ur saying. In general there's a lot of hypocracy. People definitely are selective in what they wanna follow and what Principals sound good to them. A lot of cherry picking
GeeYewWhai 2,382
By religion I’m sure she’s mainly referring to Abrahamic religions which are all inherently bigoted. Let’s not give religion credit for the bare minimum and say that they aren’t actually religious when they show their TRUE ugly colors. It was in their books. Owning a slave in the bible is as acceptable as being charitable. When was the last time you saw a religious group lead a progressive movement? Nothing Happened
Seeka 12,372
While I do believe that everyone has their own beliefs and interpretations of what the Bible says and what their preacher preaches... Republicans are basically twisting everything to their needs.
