Scooped up my Best Buy preorder tonight, it was the foil version. They had a lot of consoles too, but the controllers quickly sold out. I just beat the first dungeon. This game is beautiful!!!! People who got to play it in the 90s got to experience it as such. I didn't have an N64 growing up. By the time the game became available to me (through the Switch port), I genuinely couldn't get used to the old controls, visuals, etcetera. Even Twilight Princess is probably my second favourite game of all time - so OoT was definitely up my alley. But I never really got past the start of the game. This remake makes me so excited to finally experience the game and the story, without having to "work past" the limitations of the N64. Instead, I get to experience it with all the graphics and technical wow-factor that a "next gen" title usually has to offer. Just how a lot of people got to experience the original in the 90s. Both Original and Remake can live together side by side in the same timeline, the OG changed gaming, it's impact is undeniable.. but truth is.. in 2026, it's a pretty ugly game.. so why not give the game the treatment it deserves and make this whole world beautiful, charming, and current without hurting it's original impact and marvel? the young generation can fall in love with it just like we fell in love it when we were kids.
