Well Chromatica isn’t a gay album.:billie:

What the hell makes a gay album? This isn't talking about "gay albums," it's talking about albums by LGBTQ artists. Their whole work doesn't have to center around their sexuality so I'm not sure what this comment is trying to do.

Why do I keep getting quoted on something I already explained the past 7 pages?

That comment was answering OP’s statement:

My sneaking suspicion is that they simply forgot (yet again) that Gaga is bisexual and therefore didn't even think to include Chromatica

In that response, I said Chromatica isn’t recognized as a gay album. I know Gaga is a bisexual artist and know what the topic of the thread is.

Look before y'all try to attack me, I'm genuinely curious, but is Gaga bisexual? I have followed her from the beginning of the career and she said very early on she was Bisexual. Poker Face as a song was about her bisexuality and LoveGame's visuals being her putting it out there on the forefront. However, as of recent, she has been calling herself an "ally", as well as and even going on Untucked on Drag Race on Season 9 talking about how she's not a "gay" woman and there's gray line of whether or not she can be an voice for the LGBT community when she isn't gay herself. The way that was interpreted could be seen as her claiming she's a straight woman. People in the past have used sexuality as a edgy selling point, so I wouldn't be upset if this was the case when she was first starting off. But it seems like this always ends up being something that is brought up and none of us really know.

This is an excellent article from The Advocate that addresses the nuances, confusion, questions  and concerns mentioned on this thread.

"Excellent" is a choice of words. It's actually pretty biphobic in a lot of ways and is more set on finding "evidence" for her being an "ally" rather than actually trying to understand what she's saying.

I think this thread on twitter explains it pretty well and also addresses the problematic parts of this article

I am so confused. I found that the article agrees with the arguments in that thread

Ok so don't bite my head off. I'm going think aloud here to try to understand:

Everyone is trying to understand what she's saying but sometimes what she chooses to say in certain spaces may give people pause.

Gaga is bi. She's expressed it many times.

But I think there are the two reasons people continually search for concrete evidence:

1)You cannot deny that people have used queerness (particularly bi-ness) for "edge" or whatever, and finding out that she, of ALL people, is one of these poseurs, would be highly upsetting to say the least.

2)  If she says she's bi than she's bi. But Gaga choosing to sometimes identify herself as something that people don't realize can also be true of bi identifying people ( ex: bi woman, but not a gay woman or ally not just being a label for friendly straights) clouds a widely accepted distinction (or conflation) of what bi does and doesn't mean, which activates peoples concerns in (1).

Everyone is searching for the definitive answer that calms the anxiety cycle between (2) and (1). And so now something she's said multiple times is held in limbo in some peoples minds.

I'm not sure if you can call that 100% biphobia, more than just a confusion or ignorance over the nuances of identifying as bi ...more than the obvious need for the Queer community to become more educated about and respectful of these nuances and being allies within the community --like how we just got around to doing for our trans siblings.

I dunno. Am I coming across right?

I'm so tired of people denying her being bisexual :triggered:

didn't she literally say herself not too long ago that she's straight? :green: she just experimented

she only ever said 'when I was making love, to a man.. I used to think about women some times' back in the Poker Face era, on Jonathan ross i think??
