That’s exactly what I’m saying. In the US that will be very difficult to teach. On top of that you need the correct instructor. It would also be offensive to have a white teacher teach the class.

Similar to what I said to @Economy in another thread. Americans are more big on labelling race than other nations. So a class like this might be taught better in other areas than the US.

Why would that be a bad thing? If anything it would emphasize from a white person that everyone needs to be inclusive. I would think that would be a positive not a negative

That’s my country

I remember arguing with idiots recently when a primary school teacher in my city invited a drag queen to read to the kids. I just love how progressive we are.

I get that but we, as white people, don't have first hand experience of racism or being discriminated against because of where someone is from or their skin colour

I mean to be honest, you shouldn’t have to teach individuals how to be respect and not be rude to other people based on their skin tone. That’s common sense.

In America, having a racism class and teaching it would be a negative.

I agree the idea is kinda weird. But I'm talking about the fact that u specifically said a white person teaching it would be a bad idea

Because If anything I think white people more than anyone else should out loud be emphasizing were all equal

I mean shouldn't white ppl be a part of the activism as well? If you don't want them to be you just end up pushing away critical allies

It is a bad idea because white people have never and will never experience racism. So teaching a class about it having no knowledge or experience would be a bad idea. Racism is also not something that can be analyzed and dumb down for a curriculum. Can you imagine taking an exam with a multiple choice question asking “what did white people call blacks?” with the correct answer being “n*ggers” :interestinga: This will also spawn more racism in schools.

Depends what the class would entail exactly.

If it was about experiences I get ur point. If it's about speaking out against racism or the need to be equal I genuinely don't see the issues.

U don't need to be a sexual abuse victim to speak out about it just because u don't know the full scope of how it feels just like a straight person can also speak out about homophobia

If u wanna go down the road that only POC are allowed to be activists ur just denying urself useful allies

I get that the idea of such a class is silly and I'm not disagreeing with u there. I'm disagreeing with ur stance that seems to be that white ppl shouldn't speak at all

I don't even know how to be an ally. There are so many conflicting ideas among POC themselves and u send mixed messages

One of these days im just gonna stop speaking out all together. To try and make a positive difference and always be told it's not the right way to do it only to have another group of ppl from the same community tell u the opposite

And again this seems to be a US thing. The black community here in Canada is a lot more consistent and doesn't send so much mixed messages tbh
