FDA’s HAHN commissioner refuses to defend Trumps claim that 99% of COVID-19 cases “HARMLESS” he also said too early to tell if Florida safe for GOP convention. 

Meanwhile California reports 25300+ cases , death toll top 6300  , TX 8200+ cases  second day in a roll.

While this may be technically true, factoring in that ur mild case can still infect others who then infect others...

 

You getting infected as a healthy adult may be only 1% or 2% chance of getting severe or whatever the real number is

 

But factoring the many ppl u may get sick directly or indirectly, the chances at least one of those cases will be severe is a dam lot higher than 1%

 

So ppl still need to be responsible and careful. Not to mention with so many cases 1% is still a lot of ppl

Whilst I'm not defending Trump, what's lost in all the hysteria is the vast majority of people who get this recover without needing hospital treatment. 

Not sure where the numbers earlier in this thread come from, but if accurate shows the picture.

There are however groups of people with underlying health conditions where this could be more serious ( as any flu- like germs would be)

That said it shouldnt be hard to be sensible...

I think that the problem is him saying that it's "harmless" as to minimize the impact this pandemic has. The amount of hospitalizations aren't harmless and the amount of accounts of people who at some point contracted COVID-19 and after months are still dealing with the consequences isn't harmless.

Fatigue, loss of lung capacity, brain fog and so many other things they have no idea if they're going to have to deal with for the rest of their lives.

Maybe Trump meant that the great majority of cases don't result in death and he would be correct but we should all be past the point of giving him the benefit of the doubt.

Below is a thread of someone talking about her experience with COVID-19 and in it there's plenty of other accounts from people in the same boat. That's the problem with saying it's harmless, it's not an accurate statement and it enables the already reckless population who simply do not care about this pandemic.
