Gaga cosplaying as a "stripped down" singer to please gp friendly audiences. ASIB was a character. Joanne went to the roots of her family and who she is as a woman. Yes, she had theatrical elements, like the pink hat, but if you look at her career she always tried hard to push her piano ballads like Brown Eyes and Speechless even though they were not singles. Watching Five Foot Two it seems pretty clear that's where her heart is. Enigma is a tepid retread of the Monster Ball where she has a guide trying to get her to the concert. She clearly just wants to write songs now. Hearing the soul of 1000 Doves on piano sucked out to fit it to a dance beat just emphasizes for me the loss we are experiencing by insisting she make dance music. She does. But she is also a sales woman. She loved ASIB but still had that 100 people in the room script prepped to sell the product. Chromatica is her first album that doesn't sound like she is going somewhere new. It sounds like she is going back to something, and that's not what I think it best for her as an artist. This is a reality I’ve been facing recently. The only ARTPOP rejects we have (aside from “Brooklyn Nights” which was an album track until the last moments) are really bad and borderline unlistenable. “PARTYNAUSEOUS” and “Red Flame both have the worst vocal performance from her. It makes me wonder if the other songs were also abandoned at this unfinished demo stage. The only other song that probably sounds good is “Temple” because it was also an album track for a while according to the legal documents.

Im uninterested in the demos (unless they're from the tfm & btw) because they don't really.. sound good.. they sound bad.. For me, its the lyrical content and how they sound. Partynauseous was one of my favs for a bit but after a while it just felt too repetitive. Temple is probably the only good ARTPOP demo, but im still unsure about it. This is something only time will tell when we are 4~5 albums further in the future. I feel like she stills loves dance and electronic music as something she has fun doing and is somewhat healing for her. But I can't deny that she shines different (and brighter) when doing other genres. I.e. as much as I'm a pop fan, the Jazz and Piano part of the residency is waaaaaaay more authentic than Enigma. brownie 5
that Gaga is actually just using quarantine as an excuse to do no/minimal promo while her contemporaries shoot green screen vids, music videos with limited crew, live performances from their houses, zoom interviews, etc etc

FentyGa 14,340
while gaga is obviously talented, amazing, and successful, she’s not culturally relevant and hasn’t been since 2012. GGD has a lot of racism hating on every other female artist has made other fandoms hate monsters/gaga a lot
ChromaticRaccoon 1,761
That C2C, Joanne and ASIB (soundtrack) are full of wonderful music. That you don't have to like, but that doesn't change the way Gaga put her everything into this work, and constantly joking and degrading it is disrespectful. She will do more jazz, will make more movies, will (hopefully) do a rock/punk album, and will likely explore many more genres, including opera. And y'all are gonna have to learn to accept that, or find another artist who does what you want them too. If you're sticking around, wanting and expecting her to only do pop music for the rest of her career, then you've been wrong since 2009. That she can't do world tours anymore, she's in serious pain, her health is more important than a concert. It's disappointing, but if you really care about Gaga you understand. Gaga isn't going to do everything like you all want. She's not going to pick the singles you want, she's not going to do all the performances you want. If you don't like it, that's your problem, not hers. You complain that she's never interacting with the fanbase anymore, when it's the fanbase that drove her away in the first place. Stop.Disrespecting.Gaga.

I’m not gonna say I fully agree with this because at the end of the day it was her decision to turn it into a dance song but I am glad she put the demo on the deluxe. We all know her strength is in piano ballads, which is why all three of her self written songs (Speechless, Yoü and I, Just Another Day) are all piano ballads. I’d love to hear a self written and self produced album that really highlights her personal talents with music like that. It doesn’t have to be a bunch of sad music and she can even get some rock influence like in Yoü and I. Ahhh
zerojk 4,954
-Joanne World Tour was better than BTWB -At this point she won’t top Bad Romance level of artistry and success -We need to stop limiting Gaga’s artistic expression with the “no ballads, just bops” narrative
