Gamers blaming stuff on "the sjws" in this case is kind of funny considering some lgbt people hate how the lgbt characters are treated in this game.

That's how it be - media that leans into leftist ideologies gets criticized a lot harsher... Steven Universe is another example of this - you can really only escape the ire of such scrutiny if the product you make conforms to heteronormative ideals - at lest that's the message I get because while properties like The Last of US Part II get trashed, franchise like Transformers is doing mighty fine :enigma:

To be fair, I assumed she was trans since the first trailer with her in it up until I played it :billie:

Same. I though that way until the flashback where she didn't have the muscles yet. :fail: But it was still questionable to hate on the game just for that.

I mean - they are completely fine with gay characters as long as they don't see them kiss each other or interact at all :neyde:

Still haven’t beat it so I’m avoiding spoilers (pls) but the ~white straight majority~ doesn't like it when the hunky badass white straight male protagonist doesn’t “win”. Shocking. Look at the outrage over the last season of Game of Thrones with Jon Snow (which I thought was a fine ending to the show). Nothing new, nothing changed. I’m still early in the game in Seattle, but so far I’m enjoying it.

I'm sorry, but Ellie is gorgeous :saladga: And I loved Abby and her part of the game, because felt like a total badass playing by her :queenga:

Exactly, like, when I saw that article and they used Ellie in it, put side by side with some stereotypical Lara Croft looking character, I was like :saladga:

To be honest, they made Dina so bland in the game, sigh

Lesbian love story had a great potential, but I think they wasted it (DLC was so much better with that)

But as I know their main critique was towards Lev and his story in the game (I actually fell in love with this character :bradley:)

Expand

Yeah, Dina kinda got out of Ellie's arc too quickly... That's one of the nitpicks I have with it, as well as the fact that I don't like that the structure of the game is so non-linear... I also think it tried to do too much - it would have been better and more potent if it cut a good 4-5 hours out...

But I also kinda can't help but give the game props for that, cuz I like when creators get ambitious - I like ambition in art a lot...

So yeah, it is a mixed bag, but I think there's way more good than bad and Ellie's arc is executed near-perfectly... Like, what they wanted to drive home they absolutely did

ALSO: Naughty Dog manipulated trailers to make it seem as though you-know-who was actually a main character in this game, which is not cool. That's one of the big reasons people are mad. On the flip side, it's disgusting to be mad about the inclusion of Gay/Trans characters, which I think is another big reason for the backlash.

Neckbeards hates it just because they hate to have female character as mains cos certain someone is not there anymore. Worse that the female mains is also a lesbian. But the game still winning tho. Looking at the animations is so mesmerizing. Suxh a feat it was. Especially simple thinga like pulling and throwing rope. So, good for them tbh!

:lmao: I figured that would upset some people. I also watched the show after it finished and heard the outrage so maybe going in with lower expectations helped me enjoy it more. I just don’t understand how some people didn’t see Danys shift coming, it was blatantly foreshadowed for years. It didn’t bother me much that other characters besides Jon got to share some glory. But I agree with the overall critique that the season seemed rushed.

As someone that's played and beaten the game, it was a good game. There were plot points that I thought were a little too convenient, like Joel encountering the one person who was seeking revenge against him at the beginning of the game.

Did I want to play as Abby for 50% of the game? Hell no. I understand they wanted to explore the whole "eye for an eye makes the whole world blind" theme, but Abby's portion of the game was excessively long. Toward the end, I was sprinting through fields of enemies to get to the next area to move it along.

They were bitching about Lara too at some point (surprise, surprise - because of the breasts) :neyde:

Same! It's okay if they failed to make everything work, because they wanted to do so much - but I think it was worth it

That's the thing that bothers me - I'm okay with people criticizing plot and some twists in a game - but damn they were so hateful towards some characters just for them being trans or looking too "manly" :saladga:

They really didn't do that tho :poot:

People are upset because they included ONE clip that isn't in the game - the rest of the promo material... let me just put this in the spoiler - DON'T READ, ANYONE WHO DOESN'T WANT TO BE SPOILED

From what I understand, that's not what people took issue with, but rather that it was rushed and it was set up very poorly :bon:

And that's despite HBO being absolutely ready to throw more money at the show - they could have taken their time to flesh things out, they just didn't cuz they wanted to go do other things :poot:

weed

the backlash is/was disgusting and sometimes I really really hate the gaming community. I probably put 300 hours in The Last of Us lol and they really ruined my hype even though I was so excited for years. Hope to pick it up soon, glad it's super successful :nooo:
