Chromatica is Gaga trying to please everyone too much, to the detriment of the final product

Yeah RoM, FW, FT, 911, Replay, SFA are all watered down and go nowhere :ladyhaha:

I don’t know why she even bothers trying to please people, least of all her fans, when they treat her with constant disrespect and disdain. You’re entitled to your opinion of course, but calling Chromatica a watered-down pandering album? Have you listened to it?

Funny that you included Replay, I actually think it’s the best song, but yes to all the other ones. Free Woman and Fun Tonight have in specific painfully dated and generic early 2010’s EDM production. ROM is good, but could’ve gone harder. SFA is saved by the breakdown and the melody/lyrics, but that drop is also on the same camp as FW and FT. 911 has good production but the chorus is painfully underwritten.

Most of the album doesn’t hold up to modest scrutiny. You can see how most of the songs are undermined by a short runtime, drops that have been done a million times, production that sounds like something that was done to death 5 years ago, the lack of a chorus, a bridge of a second verse, and more.

There are good songs here, but the only one that reaches its full potential here is Replay, the rest are all crippled by some choice made to appeal to a wider audience.

Can you please show me where I showed disrespect and disdain? Or where I asked her to cater to my specific taste? I know thinking of me as an entitled monster makes it easier to ignore my criticism.

I think Chromatica is her most underwhelming release in a while. There’s nothing actively bad in it, there’s just a lack of ambition or excitement that in my view comes from an attempt at making a safe album, which, I mean, do your thing Gags.

I like ARTPOP. It's a fun album. But it's also not at all what I expected with how much she hyped it up. It's just EDM - to me, not experimental at all like its raved to be by a lot of ARTPOP stans. Her main producers on the album were DJWS, Zedd and Madeon, and the sound on it shows - just like the sound on Chromatica is very much Bloodpop, Axwell and Burns.

Omg yes thank you. What exactly is experimental about ARTPOP really? Is it because it’s loud and crazy? Bc loud and crazy =/= experimental. It’s just EDM, with a hip hop song and a pop rock song. It seems like many of these ARTPOP stans haven’t heard an actual experimental album. And I actually do love the album as well.

I never said you showed disrespect or disdain, and avoided a second-person pronoun for that reason. I even went on to explicitly say that you are entitled to your opinion. :huntyga: I do think that as a general rule, Little Monsters are able to find fault in anything and every thing that Gaga and/or her team put out; some of it is fair and, in my opinion, some of it is no. I think that some Gaga fans need to re-evaluate whether or not they really are fans if they find themselves dissatisfied with virtually every aspect of her discography, style, and overall celebrity and career. I’m not myself unwilling o criticize or critique her when I think it’s warranted but I always try to do so in a respectful way- as you did.

I don’t know what you’re referring to when you talk about “specific taste”, so I’ll leave that alone.

I’m not ignoring your criticism or else I wouldn’t have responded to it:ohwell:

Chromatography

i appreciate that ARTPOP has a distinct sound. every song sounds different and is unique. chromatica is not like that, in my opinion. a few of the songs sound the same to me and blend together.

You could also say that ARTPOP is Chromatica but without commitment. She tries to write personal lyrics but it's so watered down that the lyrics just all become about having sex. Chromatica is her most personal album to date and is extremely successful in conveying its message. ARTPOP can't relate to that unfortunitely.

If you want ARTPOP just listen to ARTPOP.

What?

ARTPOP was neither art nor pop enough. We got some great songs but you get a sense that the songs were written over a beat, as opposed to being written organically.

Chromatica is accessible, yes, but the lyrics show Gaga being more confident about her songwriting.

I mean, by bringing up the conversion about entitled monsters when you’re responding to me specifically makes it sound like you’re including me in the group, which I’m glad to see wasn’t the case.

I’m just telling you that using that stereotype of the critical monster that drags her constantly and doesn’t like anything she does is something many people use to deflect actual valid criticism about her music.

It seems like every time I criticize Chromatica someone lumps me into that group, so that they can ignore me and not think about the criticisms I’m making, because after all I’m just one of those delusional monsters who don’t like anything she makes anyways.

I don’t think we are ever going to agree on the quality of Chromatica, and even though I do think that not falling in love with that masterpiece is ungrateful and wrong :triggered::ally: I do respect that you are able to express your opinions in a mature way, something that many could use some work in- in the context of Gaga or otherwise:ohwell: I don’t expect everyone to love this album but if they don’t they’re wrong and that’s quite frankly on periodT:oops:

Perhaps when the HL remix of Babylon drops you’ll see the light:firega: but until then suck it up and stream Rain on Me so we can go back to #1

P.S I only really listen to Pop and Country music and variations of it so perhaps you’re just more familiar with some house elements than I am?

I try my hardest to be respectful and empathetic at every moment. I’m a Kindness Punk after all .

I’m waiting for the HL remix of Babylon, it think it’s already one of the best songs on the album and with that beat it will be even better.

I’m not a House connoisseur or anything, I just try to dabble a little bit into a lot of different genres. I think that’s a reason why I don’t love the album. I recognize where Chromatica is pulling its inspirations from, and I can clearly see how it could’ve done more with them. There’s a lot of untapped potential in the album.

If you wanna listen to my favorite House track then I give you this 11 minute masterpiece by the one and only Mariah Carey .

River

ARTPOP was all over the place, even she admitted it, she was in a bad state of mind, a lot of pressure, in pain and depression, all the eyes were on her and nobody believed her + a team that had a bad influence on her.

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

Talking about PTSD, taking anti-psychotic drugs, and depression itself is already having balls. Just cuz she didn't cuss, make controversial lyrics, and not talked about sex in the album doesn't mean it has no 'balls'. Being vulnerable in a project that your fans will be bopping to is already a brave move from a music artist.
