It better not be to be quite honest :fan: especially since it has been years and years of his fans waiting for that new material! Tho, I did enjoy the one he did with Gaga and the Lonely Island on SNL, the 3-Way (The Golden Rule).

I still love this video! Brilliantly hilarious! :lmao:

Guardian: The return of Justin Timberlake – bringing s-xy back… again

The star has released a new single after a five-year absence from the world of pop. But what's he been doing all this time?

justin-timberlake-playing-001.jpg

Absent from the world of pop for five years, Justin Timberlake last week announced his return with the promise of a new album (The 20/20 Experience) and the release of a new single, Suit and Tie, which has already sold around 300,000 digital copies. Not bad, JT – but what have you been up to while you've been away? For those who haven't been keeping track, here's a refresher course in the pop star's busy sabbatical from music.

Designing golf courses

What else? Timberlake has been a keen golfer for a number of years, since being introduced to the game, mid-tour, by his stage manager. "All I was thinking about is getting a little ball into a little hole. It was just the best mental release from performing on stage," he said in 2011. "A golf course can be a spiritual place." Playing wasn't enough. In 2009 Timberlake designed his own course in Tennessee and it has won several awards for eco-friendliness since.

Getting married in Italy…

To actor Jessica Biel, at the end of last year.

… and offending the homeless of LA on the way to the altar

A friend of Timberlake's, excited by the impending nuptials, made a YouTube video in which he interviewed homeless people in Los Angeles about the event. The video was titled "Greetings from Your Hollywood Friends Who Just Couldn't Make it". Apologising for the stunt, which he put down to "associative knuckleheads", he was moved to assure people that the footage was not broadcast at any point during his wedding.

Investing

Timberlake bought a stake in MySpace, at the time owned by Rupert Murdoch, as part of a $35m acquisition of the social media site by Specific Media in June 2011. The chief exec at Specific Media confirmed at the time that Timberlake, as part of the team, would get a desk at MySpace HQ, but was "probably not going to be there every day". Timberlake's new single streamed for free on a new-look MySpace last week.

Acting

In the brilliant Facebook movie The Social Network, and in the not-so-brilliant In Time, a sci-fi thriller about a future Earth in which nobody ages beyond 25.

Otherwise dressing up

Fooling around with American Esquire magazine in summer 2011, the pop star dressed up in a full-body costume as Ernie from Sesame Street, and spent some time walking around a comics convention in California. "One of the most memorable days of my life," he called it. "I keep forgetting, when people ask to take our picture.. It's because I'm Ernie. It's not because I'm me."

Billboard: Justin Timberlake Makes Historic Debut On Pop Songs Chart

'Suit & Tie' scores the most first-week plays for a title at the format and the highest debut by a male.

Justin Timberlake's "Suit & Tie," featuring Jay-Z, makes a record-setting debut on Billboard's Pop Songs chart, which measures mainstream top 40 radio airplay, as monitored by Nielsen BDS, soaring in at No. 14. The song arrives with the highest first-week plays total in the chart's 20-year history and marks the highest bow for a song by a male artist.

"Suit" logged 6,045 plays in the Jan. 14-20 tracking week, with spins on all 157 of the Pop Songs chart's reporters, pushing it past Lady Gaga's "Born This Way," which opened (also at No. 14) with 4,602 plays the week of Feb. 26, 2011, for the highest debut-week plays sum on Pop Songs, which launched the week of Oct. 3, 1992. (The chart panel expanded from 141 to 157 reporters late last year.)

With its No. 14 arrival, "Suit" takes over as the highest-debuting song by a male artist in the Pop Songs chart's archives. It bests the No. 19 entrance of Jon Secada's "If You Go" the week of May 14, 1994. Among all acts, only Mariah Carey's "Dreamlover" launched at a higher rank (No. 12, Aug. 14, 1993); "Suit" and "Born" now share the mark for the second-highest lift-off among all artists.

Aiding the fast start for "Suit," several Clear Channel Media and Entertainment-owned Pop Songs panelists gave it top-of-the-hour plays last Monday (Jan. 14), while CBS Radio reporters played it heavily on its first day and stations in the Cumulus chain added it to rotation.

Based on its first two days of airplay when the Billboard Hot 100 airplay/sales/streaming hybrid chart was tabulated on Wednesday (16), "Suit" debuted at No. 84. With a full week of airplay and sales, the song could vault into the Hot 100's top five when the chart is refreshed on Wednesday (23) this week. According to RCA Records, the song sold 310,078 downloads in its first week (ending Jan. 20) - however, official sales figures will be released on Wednesday morning by Nielsen SoundScan.

"Over the years, we've come to expect the unexpected with Justin's music, which I think is fantastic," says Sharon Dastur, program director of Pop Songs panelist WHTZ New York. With its retro-soulful vibe, "'Suit & Tie' doesn't sound like anything else out in pop music right now and we can certainly use those kinds of songs. We welcome Justin back with open arms."

"Suit," the lead single from Timberlake's forthcoming third album, "The 20/20 Experience," concurrently roars onto the Rhythmic airplay chart at No. 14 and Adult Pop Songs at No. 22.

Billboard: Justin Timberlake Soars to Top 5 in the HOT 100

2690069-justin-timberlake-2013-suite-tie-617-409.jpg

Justin Timberlake scores the Hot 100's lone new top 10, as "Suit & Tie" rockets to No. 4 from its No. 84 debut last week. The lead single from his forthcoming album "The 20/20 Experience" storms onto Digital Songs at No. 2 with 315,000 first-week downloads sold.

As previously reported, the total marks Timberlake's best sales week for a download, besting the 250,000-unit start of his seven-week Hot 100 No. 1 "SexyBack" in 2006. It's the heftiest start for a song by a male artist since Justin Bieber's "Boyfriend" began with 521,000 the week of April 14, 2012. In its second week on Radio Songs (reflecting its first full week of airplay), "Suit" shoots 33-16 (54 million, up 50%), fueled by a record-setting start on Pop Songs, where it launches at No. 14 with more than 6,000 opening-week plays at the format.

"Suit," which vaults 9-1 on the R&B Songs chart (and 27-2 on R&B/Hip-Hop Songs), grants Timberlake his 12th Hot 100 top 10 and first since Ciara's "Love Sex Magic," on which he guested, reached No. 10 in April 2009. He hadn't inhabited the top tier as a lead artist since "Summer Love" rose to No. 6 in June 2007.

Timberlake now boasts twice as many Hot 100 top 10s on his own as he tallied as a member of 'N Sync; the boy band scored six top 10s between 1999 and 2002.

Here's the full article.

Congratulations to Justin Timberlake for his 12th HOT 100 top ten hit!
