On this day, 6 years ago, Lana Del Rey released her third major label album.

The album was at the time a departure from the glossy style and hip hop flavours of her early releases, embracing instead various elements of rock, psychedelic music and jazz.

The album spanned 5 singles: West Coast, Shades of Cool, Ultraviolence, Brooklyn Baby and the final version of the previously leaked demo Black Beauty.

The week following its release, it went #1 on the Billboard 200 album chart and in the long run went on to sold almost 3 millions copies worldwide.

Despite receving initially indecisive and mixed reactions from fans, it became a huge fan-favorite within her discography praised for its cohesivity, unique sound and containing some of Lana's best tracks of her career.

I still remember hearing West Coast for the first time and absolutely losing my ****

My one and only complaint is that I wish she had put Yes To Heaven on the deluxe - or I at least wish it leaked in better quality
