It's not going to free up much tax dollars Defunding the police is not necessarily the abolishing of it (even though that wouldn't be so bad but the US and most countries are not ready for that) The US puts a lot of its budget into law enforcement and the prison system with little reform and barely any good training for the officers. That money is better used somewhere else. In fact, they've been able to create a market out of prisons and many corporations benefit from mass incarceration and police brutality (which has almost always been racially driven)
PartySick 172,533
Disbanding? As in, they won't have police? If so, that seems like a terrible idea I'm assuming that's not the case though Whimsical bitch
GregJA 5,531
I’m sure they have something in place... but this is dumb lol - and the majority of people will not support this. Just like 58%+ of registered voters think the police should be MORE forceful than they are now or at least just as forceful - and another large chunk believing they should stay the same mostly, (Although I mix this with the next one) - a smaller size believing some reform (such as taking out big money and unions, I could see that working as a stepping stone that many can agree on) - but watch if they get defunded they will start ticketing everyone more to make up for it and people will lose it LOL - and THEN theres a tiny margin believing they should be disbanded/completely reformed/changed. Also they do not want actual good officers getting injured during this time. The national guard is still up there so it will be them and the government in Minnesota that will be controlling things. If a situation happens where local police are needed, they will use the guards or local volunteer officers from other areas.

They should have reformed first and disbanded after they actually came up with a idea that works - people can agree/disagree on that and that’s fine. Right now some just think with anger or pressure and not actually their brains. this goes for anything but as an example just if we found teachers in schools were not properly teaching people (aka kids weren’t learning anything and grades fell) - you’d find a solution that was better for education and learning and implement it before you threw out the current education system and left all the kids in a state of limbo with nowhere to go. Rightfully. now that brings in the whole gun debate which is a whole other thing and even if banned in the states will be just as bad considering how many there already are and the illegal black market but... as time goes on it will improve -just like acceptance and human rights - just... don’t take that as sit on the sidelines and do nothing - just realize some things take time and as much as we want things to just instantly be fixed or changed (I’m a very impatient person so I know lol) it takes time. Regina George 59,387
Okay but what does this exactly mean? I don’t get it.. Are they just not gonna have police for some time? Like do people understand that police is there for a reason? And No I’m not saying police should be there killing people and what not, I’m saying that people need someone to protect them.
