Genuinely one of the most powerful and beautiful covers I’ve seen in my life.
Congratulations, and Black Lives Matter

LOVE FOOLISH

This reminds me of the work by Carrie Mae Weems. Especially in her work titled Kitchen Table Series, where Weems captures the essence of black women. I specifically mention this because I remember a part of my analysis focusing on motherhood and other social roles that we acquire over time.

Anyway, I also wonder why one hand is blue. In my art appre. course, the color blue had many interpretations, but I believe this has to do with how a mother “fails” in achieving dependability. Or perhaps it was done to highlight the protectiveness of a mother, especially against a world that is racially unjust (see how the small landscape viewed from the window is depicted with the same shades of blue on her hand?).

Look at me trying to analysis art like I actually learned something in the course! Either way, beautiful work! I am definitely gonna research on this work and artist.

The Fame

I am interested to know the artist's symbolism behind the blue hand.

I thought the blue hand looked like a latex glove! Personally I interpreted it as representing the fact that Black Americans are more likely to be working in hazardous conditions during the pandemic with pathetic protection offered from the employers and government. Maybe commenting on the Covid-19 pandemic and how it is affecting Black people in addition to the message on police killings

My old cat is a tough man, but i cant deny the way he bites my hand and he stabs me, he grabs me by my heart <3

Ooh, interesting observation!

That would make sense considering the current pandemic. I was definitely going for a more abstract approach, but I really appreciate how you acknowledged how poor healthcare is for black Americans in terms of actual care and accessibility. This reminds me of how black women are at high risk for maternal death in the U.S. due to institutional racism. For being one of the most powerful and richest nations in the world, we still have the worst healthcare for POC.
