In that Rolling Stone article BloodPop said the first song they worked on was SL, during the time of the JWT. During and after that she was hospitalized with chronic pain and mental health issues, and spending time healing from that.

She then worked on finishing up the ASIB soundtrack, we know she wasn't completely done with that until July 2018.

Then by August 2018 she started the ASIB promotion, then awards season that ran through until early 2019. During this time she also planned and began Enigma/J&P

Early 2019 (like Jan-Feb) is when it seems like they really started focusing on the album. She has spoken at length about how hard and emotional at lot of these days were. Also in 2019 she was working to launch HL and all that entailed PLUS doing the Vegas stuff every few months

So, lots going on in her life to say the least! All while dealing with depression, PTSD and chronic pain. Makes me exhausted just typing it out, she's a god damn trooper

Success from ASIB and Enigma. Also based on how Gaga explained herself with this album, she was depressed a lot and found moments of inspiration and getting into a good mindset.

Her schedule was pretty stacked from early 2017-early 2019 with the halftime show, Joanne Tour, Enigma, ASIB filming and press tour/awards cycle as well as Haus Labs. I am guessing the album was recorded mostly in 2018-2019 with some changes and updates made in the last 10 months or so.

Gaga is a perfectionist, we know this. Not to mention she had a lot going on with her career outside of the music in the meantime, like more than most of us realize. I doubt most people could put out an album that is actually good and has solid theming and aesthetics that feels like a classic, monstrous pop release. This album is in part fanservice to us, but we are also lucky that Gaga loves electronic music too. Ease up on ha pls

Well, she had a ton of projects: Haus Labs, ASIB, Enigma, etc. 

I also think that while the song writing process may have been easy, I think that overall the production of the album took a while. She said that there are many versions of these songs all produced by different people. To coordinate all that while also simultaneously juggling all her projects and her personal life takes time. Besides, another solo era is (as of now, anyways) the biggest part of her career. I would imagine she'd want to take time with it.

I still think there's an early version of the album fully produced by bloodpop that Gaga didn't like so they started to rework it with other different writers and producers .. and that's why they took so much time .. i mean look how different was the SL demo compared to the final version .. and then max martin jumped on the song out of nowhere and rewrote it .

 

tbh that's why i still think bloodpop is the weakest producer among the other producers who worked with Gaga before (Garibay_RedOne_Djws) ..

You can write a song in 5 minutes but to produce and polish it to be in its final form takes time. Not to mention, she has a HECTIC schedule. And, on top of that, there are legal contracts with producers and with record companies that also contribute to the long time it takes to create a body of work.

Sorry but that's not true .. RedOne for example fully produced and co wrote BBB/just dance/poker face/love game in less than a week .

Just because it happened to one song, allegedly, doesnt mean it is the case for all songs. Redone and Gaga are at different points in their careers than they were back then.

Also, I have worked in the music industry and know these things. Disagree all you want lol. As a consumer, you dont see what happens behind the scene and the complexity in projects such as albums. 

I'm not here to argue though, so if you think I am wrong then okay.

Pretty much what everyone has said already. ASIB, Enigma, Haus Labs, personal life, etc. She also started working on new music in 2017 with DJ White Shadow which we know didn't make the cut. She probably changed direction of it in 2018 which led to working with all of those new producers and writers.
