Yeah my friends who live out-of-state wonder why I tolerate some of the things my coworkers say and it's like.... I have a good job I would rather not get fired by my conservative boss

I feel that. Toronto is so not conservative as a culture (even though many people actually are) but something about construction/industrial just attracts all the old fashioned people. Luckily my work is overflowing with lgbtq people

If u try to say anything progressive in these kinds of jobs ull get jumped. My last two jobs were the exact same thing

 

However in terms of racism the place I'm in now has the most blunt people about it. 

 

Funny story this guy was being racist against black people and smack talking the two Jamaican workers behind their back and I was feeling bad for them (I tried to disagree with him politely, it was my first week I didn't wanna start something)

 

Here I was feeling bad for the Jamaicans only for them to join into the anti-Jews talk the same day. I'm like here I am feeling sorry for u being a victim of racism then you guys pull this sh*t
