Cailleach 2,974
I’m not sure if this has been discussed before but I haven’t been here in a while so don’t sue me I could’ve sworn that before the album was released, Gaga confirmed somewhere that the lyrics in “Sine From Above” was “before there was love, there was silence”. This is what I hear clearly when listening to the song, but according to Apple Music and multiple lyric sites, the lyrics are “before there was us, there was silence” I’m not sure if I just misheard Gaga in whatever interview it was but I really hope I’m right and Apple Music screwed up, because ‘love’ sounds so much better and is so much more powerful than ‘us’ Can someone help me figure this out? NickMonster 54
I also hear "love" and thought that was the lyric, but I just checked the booklet from the CD and the lyrics printed in it say "Before there was *us*, there was silence" Today I learned I am thou, thou art I
hELXIG 42,695
WHAT? No way, it's gotta be love. And I thought I remembered her saying that too Gotta be a misprint Edit: just listened to it a few times and there's definitely no 's' sound... I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin. REALITY 75,622
Wait. I thought that she said "us," but I kept hearing "love" EDIT - Okay, so it is "love." She confirms it here; I thought she said "us" for some reason. I'd trust Gaga herself over Apple Music, tbh. 🦠🧙♀️🥀📸🎉👻🕺🧟💊💖☎️🔪👤🐺🌱🌎
crybrowz 3,241
To me it very clearly sounds like "love." Sometimes her booklet lyrics are inaccurate.

NickMonster 54
Yeah I can definitely hear "luh-" and don't hear any "s" sounding portion to that word so I'm gonna believe it's "love" until Gaga states otherwise or we hear "us" during any live performance or concert. "Love" makes so much more sense and makes that more impactful I am thou, thou art I

UGH Then WHY did they print "us" in the booklet Thank God because I was forcing my mind to say "us" while I mouthed "love" on the song because I heard that "I was protected by the monks of Azarath, I was raised by my friends. They are my family, this is my home and you are not welcome here."
Ocean Wrist 155
Thank you all for sorting this out. This particular instance had me thinking, too. The legacy of her lyrics being questionable in the booklet continues. (In Stupid Love I still think it's "higher, higher," also.)

In that video of her lipsyncing to the song in her car, she clearly mouths "shame," and also if you slow down the Stupid Love music video at that part, you can also tell that she's saying shame. 🦠🧙♀️🥀📸🎉👻🕺🧟💊💖☎️🔪👤🐺🌱🌎
