If “violence is never the answer” we literally wouldn’t be living in democracy right now.

At some point, either you respond to the needs of your constituents/subjects or you don’t.

Can you guess what happened when King George III decided to continue ignoring the pleas of colonists?

I hate that kind of argument. How many times has this happened? do you really think making kindness posts will change anything?  this ISNT a one time thing, it has been happening since forever. How do you think LGBT people got their rights and their voices were heard?

As it should, but that doesn't mean the state can stop being a reflection of the will of the people and must therefore be violently challenged.

I'm sorry, I don't agree. Sometimes violence is the only answer. Peaceful protest have been tried, time and again, and where are the results?

If people didn't want their sh!t looted and burned down, they shouldn't have 'looted' Africans out of Africa and enslaved them, 'looted' the entire continent of NA from Indigenous people, and then proceeded to treat those people like literal garbage for 400 years. Actions have consequences, and rage that is suppressed will eventually explode

All I can say is that this is the culmination of centuries of buildup. If the snowball could've been stopped, I think it would have been.

No. I don't think peaceful protests and kindness would have ever happened after this. This was downright deliberate murder. Caught on film. This has been happening for decades.

As much as I want to support the idea of peace, it is sometimes only the pure threat of chaos and anarchy that will do something. Some people will not get off their asses until their world is burning to cinders around them.

Civil disobedience is necessary to move society forward. How do you think America as a country was formed? Just some men in powdered wigs and petticoats peacefully marching down the street?

The world will never fully agree on anything, and many people in the world want to force their idealistic fantasies on others. For instance, Hitler. Violence is how he conquered. If he controlled the world, there would always be violence against minorities, particularly Jews.

Violence is how we stopped Hitler. Using violence selectively is a tactic used to prevent larger amounts of violence in the future. When an oppressive class is using violence to control others, those who don’t fight back are snuffed out, and those who do fight back are doing it to prevent further and more common violence from the oppressive class.

Politics and social stances in general have become extremely black and white like that

U try to mention a side point or an aspect u don't agree with and the immediate response from people is that u are on the other side. It doesn't always have to be one side or the other. U can agree with something in principal have have an issue with a particular detail it doesn't mean your taking the other people's side :fail:

I find when discussing economy for example the same principal applies with having to be either right or left

For example when I discuss the issue of income inequality, if there's a specific policy or tax I think isn't a good idea many assume I'm taking the Corporate side. Meanwhile I actually favour more taxes on the rich and have a more lefitsts stance in principal but it doesn't mean I can't point out stuff I perceive to be flaws in leftist planning

So same here. Some think the violence is justified some don't. But those that don't shouldn't automatically be accused of not caring about black lives and rights. There's more involved ethically and morally to consider when u go this far in protests than just being either for it or against it

Yes, this monopoly cannot be limitless, that is why there are laws that establish the boundaries and procedure for the use of violence. Speaking about these protests, should the police use violence against those who protest peacefully? No, and we have seen police officers can even join the protest. But should the police use violence against those who are burning buildings, cars, against looters? Yes.

The colonists attacked the redcoats and declared independence. They never burnt down their own cities and towns. The redcoats burnt down Philadelphia, not the colonists.

They (the protestors) are doing just that because they were welcomed with uncalled violence and/or indifference during their first attempts.
