The last two albums being low and mid-60 were so depressing, so its lovely to be fighting to go from an already high score to an even higher score, this time. When she returned her truest colorful pop form, NYT boxed her into a safe zone. There are very few albums by “pop stars” that have done that and they are different kind of music, with different lyrical content as well.
