Whew chile! :awkney:

Gaga was so well meaning with that tweet too.

Yeah. That's why I think that she's better off either just retweeting and thus amplifying black voices or not saying anything at all. Her heart is in the right place, but there's a good chance she'll be torn to shreds anyway.

This. I remember cringing a bit because I knew people would react badly...even though her post was clearly well meant and at worst mildly tone deaf...because people are tired of being asked to educate white people. But the overreaction...I swear I remember some blue check mark comparing her to a Klan member. I get raw and justifiable anger, but sometimes it spills out onto random people and in random ways on social media. There's no winning on social media, and as you said whatever she does will get her torn to shreds.

I mentioned Amy Schumer before...now Diddy, a Black man who has spoken extensively about BLM and police brutality, is getting dragged to h*ll on twitter because he invited her and Shaun King on his show to talk about police brutality. I get the problems with Amy and Shaun, but people are acting like Diddy beat his kids, invited white supremacists over, and put on a MAGA hat.

Bayonetta

If she mentions it a few hours before her album drops she’ll get SO much **** bc people are crazy and will see it as her trying to sell her album

Girl if she tweets about this now, people will accuse her of using the tragedy to promote her new album. Maybe she sent a letter to his family privately?

Yeah, if I were her, I'd just stop.

I see both sides of the argument. It’s difficult. I want her to say something but at the same time I don’t think she’d say the right thing... at the very least she can share the petition to have the police officers charged

She was obviously well-meaning. But tbf she should have seen the backlash coming. It is not black peoples responsibility to educate white folks.

So where can she get the education from? We learn from each other. When PoC asks that their voices be heard, but tell people to shut up when someone genuinely asks them, where is the problem here. Before any african americans here attack me like before, I am also PoC. I'm just not an african american.

She made Angel Down and some were saying she was using it to get money out of it. Literally this woman can never do something right according to this fanbase. She speaks, OMG SHE IS A SINGER. SHE SHOULD JUST FOCUS ON THAT! She doesnt speak, OMG, SHE IS A FAMOUS SINGER! SHE SHOULD USE HER PLATFORM TO SPEAK. I really dont know how Gaga is still her for us.

Not to mention, she didn't even promote that song out much. If she wanted to profit it, she would have put it out as a single, perform it everywhere on TV just so Joanne will get the exposure.

Y'all are genuinely funny making excuses for a massively rich grown privileged person just saying.

I think its funny that people here feel like gaga is obligated to say something about this

She usually does something a bit more concrete than a tweet.

For example instead of tweeting about natural disasters, she went under the radar and donated money and time. For Corona she didnt tweet and sit back, she stalled her album and organized a massive event.

I really dont think she is into paying lip service to causes.

"I have tweeted, therefore I am cleansed" has never been her thing.
