Every time she does she gets dragged by people saying that she is a white woman of privilege and has no right to speak on the matter or angers the racists who then try and drag her too.

This truly sucks, but in my opinion I think it shows her character much more.

Yeah, it shows that she's a privileged and rich white woman who probably doesn't have as much knowledge on certain topics as others, but it also shows that she's willing to learn and utilize her voice to make effective change.

That's just my opinion tbh

It would great if she spoke out, but I don't think she should. She got f*cking dragged the last time she tried.

Plus people will accuse her of clout chasing for album sales. She does NOT need that right now.

For everyone in the replies talking about her making it worse for herself and what white people can or can't do...

literally um...not to be a bitch but who cares?

She should to say SOMETHING. Y'all are making excuses for silence and turning a blind eye. Being sad and affected about and quiet at home, trying to have a neutral stance 0- these are things that show you stand with the oppressor. Better to be vilified by some and still actually help to some degree in the process is better than to do nothing at all.

We mention what white people should and shouldn’t do because that’s what the COMMUNITIES THEMSELVES SAY. We’re not saying it to save face. Many of us (myself included) have had to learn to check our own arrogance of throwing our opinions around like they’re always needed or appreciated. We’re saying that on issues like this, it might not be the place for a multi millionaire white women to throw her two cents in (unless she donating; then give two cents and all the coins you can lmao). Saying “who cares” to what poc communities think is the exact arrogance that’s massively problematic.

She literally campaign for Hillary against Trump on 2016. Why is a popstar required to speak about this on Twitter? George Floyd IS already on all the news, why do we need artist to speak about this? Are they in politics? Are they doing business law? No, Gaga sings and this is far-left for her to speak about it.

I'm not saying I'm opposed to it, I'd be happy if she does, but WHY is she required to? Yes she has a big platform, and she uses it for the greater good for the most part when she isn't about to release an album (ex. last month), literally postponing her album.

She has made a song on Joanne about a black homicide if I remember correctly, Angel Down? It is not IRRESPONSIBLE of Gaga to not do anything, she is doing plenty of good in many other ways as well. People need to step away from Twitter. Now that'd be something good for society.

Yeah really don’t agree with Halsey’s tweets. Simply tweeting about a matter like this isn’t equal to decisive action. Many celebrities will just throw up a tweet to get brownie points, and it will end up being completely self serving rather than serving the cause.

We saw with COVID that Gaga did more to actually help than just about every other musician, so it’s really not fair to hold her silence on this matter against her when she has a track record of working towards actual change for the better.

Gaga never gets silent when it comes to topics like this. Even though she probably won’t speak about it now, she probably will soon.

Well, I am considered white by today's standards, I am mostly european with some Native American in me, but I feel more connected to my Native American roots.

It's a shame. Even when she gets dragged for doing whats right she tries to appease those who come for her and ask "how" she can do better - and then she gets told she can do better by not talking about it at all. It's so disheartening. I think that's a big reason why she avoids social media and sticks to more broadly aimed kindness messages - because anything else will be torn apart. I think it just goes to show even when we are all on the same side and trying to fight for the same things there is still a huge division for some reason no matter the issue and that's what makes fighting these fights so difficult.

I feel this! Yeah and I thought the same about making this thread but also I've seen the anti-blackness within the LGBT community (a large portion of her fanbase) so often and I figured the VERY BARE MINIMUM I can do as an ally is to spread awareness and hope I can do my part. I'm not black. So if anyone on here wants to check me, by all means please do so! I just think it's important to be vocal and if you're not mad about this whole situation....that's kinda f*cked.

yes, and honestly the whole narrative that influential white people are necessary to help "save" black communities dangerously borders on reinforcing the white-savior complex
