Like, clearly you care and want to be big, and when you keep saying you're not this, you're this, not that you're this, it really sounds more like you feel bad for wanting fame (which is fine to want!) and you want to be seen as Authentic was a capital A. Like, am I alone in that it feels like a lot of strong projection? Love her, but it seems like a lot of her struggle comes from denying that she wants parts of fame but doesn't want to admit it and has a hard time naming her toxic relationship to it in music so she kind of dances around it in interviews rather than REALLY confronting it in the music anymore like she did in TFM. Basically, I think the yearning for fame is a complicated thing and that there's nothing wrong with forming your arguments around that. It doesn't make you shallow to talk about the personal complexities of fame; I'd argue that it makes you more in-touch with yourself as an artist because *that is your life and experience*. But it could also be that she understands how conditioned she has become to seek this massive external validation that the fame is and she is trying to readjust her life but it's a long process. Totally what I see, too! I’m just saying why keep saying “I hate celebrity!!!” when I think it would be so much more interesting and real to her about this push and pull, back and forth struggle she has with it, ya know? People roll their eyes when celebs say stuff like this but if she instead came out trying to tackle the complexities of this ish to her I think it would be so much easier to empathize. i say this especially since it’s not like she does THAT much to run from her celebrity status especially in recent years so clearly a part of her likes it. It sounds really complicated and I’d rather her that story than her wholly deny any affection or affinity for it and pretend like it isn’t her...when it is to a degree.
