Economy 52,843 Posted May 19, 2020 Share Posted May 19, 2020 I hope not to many people start to die of hunger I know in India the lockdown was causing serious economic issues and starvation for many because the government couldn't afford many benefits to the people off work my family in Portugal is going thru a really tough time right now too I might have to send them some money. Grocery stores and medical offices were open the whole time, it's time to open everything else back up but just become really careful doing it. Having people starving and unemployed is not the better alternative to locking ourselves up and lockdowns lasting a few months more from now is bordering on tyranny. I still agree with this I think total lockdowns should only he resorted to as a last resort during Extreme spikes where the healthcare system gets overwhelmed But it's not sustainable to just keep dragging on like some people would have it for months and months trying to get cases down to 0 (which probably still wouldn't happen) Social distancing and precautions I think is best. Most lockdown supporters (I'm talking about the ones that would see the lockdowns continue for a long time) live in rich Countries where they can qualify for some benefits and get paid while staying at home Here in Canada people who lost work get $2000 a month.
