I think it's understandable to say that you want a little more promo. Compared to other album cycles, yes, Chromatica, as of right now, doesn't have that much promo. That being said, this isn't like other album cycles. We are in unprecendented times right now. Her schedule and everything she worked for was thrown to the wayside because of COVID-19. She delayed the album because of two reasons: 1.) She wanted to do the One World concert and she helped raised $128MM. That seems like a pretty good reason to delay the album, if you ask me. 2.) She needed to restructure her whole promo line-up. Blade said that Chromatica was going to have promo only second to BTW. That's a huge deal. That doesn't sound like someone who "doesn't care about this era," or someone who just "wants this era to be over and done with." And to be honest, that's the thing that annoys me the most about these kinds of comments. You, personally, may not feel excited about Chromatica, but let's not put words into Gaga's mouth. She fights hard for her art and she works tirelessly, day and night, to produce art that she believes in. To simply say that she just "doesn't care" is, frankly, insulting and disrespectful to her. Now, if you are personally disinterested with this era, to that I say, wait until next week. Blade said that all of the promo, except for the live performances, is still being kept. That's a huge deal, again, considering he said that Chromatica was going to have promo only second to BTW. You guys will be hyped up for this album. Remember when she posted the "You're my favorite" thing like two weeks ago? There were dozens of pages filled with excitement and anticipation for that one little thing alone. I'm hyped, you're hyped, we're all hyped. There's no reason to be melodramatic about it. I think you're missing some of the points people are making though. I agree 100% the album should have been delayed and that the majority of the promo planned were forced to be scrapped but you have to be inventive and come up with new ways to engage with people. E.g... (1)Reposting some fan art, (2)IG lives with fans or some of the collaborators, (3)tweet and tease song lyrics, (4)launch a Tik Tok account and join in with some of the dance crazes and set some new ones, (5)do another Gagavision of her during quarantine, (6)create a playlist of songs that inspired Chromatica/Stupid Love (7)share the creative journey of some of the merch/Haus labs products (8)post some studio pics from the album sessions, (9)share diary entries from the Chromatica writing sessions, (10)post writings or set up a blog and post stories from the world of Chromatica and invite fans to send theirs similar to what 21Pilots did with Trench...etc etc That's just 10 suggestions off the top of my head and I'm not a professional music manager or A&R person (some of those ideas are probably crap but that's not the point. Point is coming up with promo ideas is easy). Promo doesn't necessarily mean "songs, videos, performances, interviews" it could mean anything to engage with people and explain what Chromatica is all about. I'm sure we'll start to get lots in the next two weeks, but right now I think a bit more could be done to get people excited about it

Or promo single. Or any type of promo ffs... thongs aren’t promo. Before Traumatica was announced I seriously thought that she’d achieve commercial success again. With how things have gone recently - SL flop, delay, Rona, Gaga’s disinterest... I honestly don’t see how Gaga is going to gain commercial success again... And before you all come for me to say commercial success isn’t everything - Gaga’s career as a pop artist needs a hit song, her last WW pop hit was... Applause/ maybe even Born This Way... and if she doesn’t have a big WW pop hit this era, she’ll have to think about forgetting about the pop scene and focussing on all the other amazing things she does: films, jazz... Britney Jean1 839
I think there is a hype for this album but the thing is that this hype is coming only from the LM, not from Gaga herself. Both the general public and other fanbases aren't here for her this time basically of 2 reasons : 1. They didn't like SL 2. Gaga didn't reach them, she even barely tweet! I felt this actually even before the Corona thing. she seemed uninterested since the beginning! other minor reason can be that LM aren't nice toward other fanbases as well, bashing every female artist other than Gaga wouldn't make other fan groups support you. However, I believe that the hype will explode again after ROM, and the hype can stick if the song is good! Slim

Scrat 138
Sorry I didn't read the whole thread so maybe it's been already said, but my piece of advice for OP is don't start feeling sad about this era yet I think it hasn't really started, it was some teasing and they had a lot of things prepared. But as we know the pandemic happened and they had to rethink it all, making the original lead single seem like a promo song for the fans. Yes there's "only" 2 weeks left till the album, but as I understand advertising nowadays (I work in an ad agency), especially during these strange times, attention span has evolved (in a decreasing way) and campaigns are effective when they're short. I think it is a strategy (and maybe a clever one, but I'm no strategist) from Gaga's team to concentrate the promo in the week preceding the album release, with lots of things happening to hype and reach the GP and offer them the album in the momentum. Honestly if a non-fan hears about an album, is curious, but then see he has to wait 3 weeks to check it out, well, he'll forget it. If a lot is happening during a week it'll gather interest and the album release will be just at the right time to hype the public without loosing them because they will be tired of waiting. And in this kind of strategy, fans who are here during the long wait are a little bit left behind, because anyway you'll be there when the album comes, and we will be slayed! This is my grain of salt, there must be a strong strategy & marketing team behind Gaga's comeback, that's their job and they know what they are doing. Be patient, I'm sure the hype is just around the corner and you'll love it

However, I fully think that her full promo lineup will start next week. People have short attention spans nowadays. I mean, think about it. She announced just last week that the album was coming on the 29th, and we still have people like, "but what about 'x,' 'y,' and 'z'?". I think it's better for her to do a lot of her promo the week before/during/after Chromatica's release. Cause let's be real here, the only people who pay attention to pre-era promo are fans. Yes, the G.P. may see a performance here-or-there, or see a snippet of an interview, but no casual fan, and no member of the G.P. is actively searching for Gaga stuff. And even if they do, if they promo it like the month before the album, they'll certainly lose interest by the time the album actually comes out. Finally, Blade said all of her promo besides live performances will still stay. Once again, I think this can all be simplified down to: just wait until next week. 🦠🧙♀️🥀📸🎉👻🕺🧟💊💖☎️🔪👤🐺🌱🌎

I do hope that Zane Lowe and Zach Sang interviews about Chromatica come out. They're great at interviewing artists, and I think that they really get into the psyche of artist's minds about their albums and their work. To be 100% honest, I'm okay with the "typical" promo line-up. I didn't become a fan of Gaga until later on in her career, so perhaps if I had, for example, experienced some of the BTW or TFM promo for myself, my perspective on this would be different, but I feel like nowadays, it's pretty standard for Gaga to do just the "typical" stuff. I'm not really expecting her to engage like she did during BTW. She didn't do that with Joanne, and I thought the promo for that album was fine. 🦠🧙♀️🥀📸🎉👻🕺🧟💊💖☎️🔪👤🐺🌱🌎
