Glamourpuss 29,062
I love them both but 1989 has alot of nostalgia attached to it now and has some underrated gems on it like Wonderland which has become such a special song to me.
hpmcmill 1,990
Not some of the Lover blasphemy I'm seeing in this thread.... but yeah 1989... both great tho.
webeenknew 81
while i love 1989 with ALL of my heart and more, lover came at a time when i was feeling really low and it really helped me cope through those times, so i have that sentimental attachment to it which gives it the edge. plus cruel summer is a bop and i WISH she made it the lead over ME! however reputation >>>>>
Hyperobject 66,771
I actually think that 1989 aged like milk, especially some of the songs, their production sound so outdated, but I still love this album anyway. Lover fees like an album consisted fully of fillers, so long and so flat. To me Red remains her best work yet, really good songwriting with amazing production, this album is really timeless. It's deliberate because it's supposed to have an eighties sound.
Magui 2,628
1989. I remember to listen to it and thinking that it was very, very good. This last one I didn't listen the entire album only a few a songs.

Like Emotion still sounds good and fresh, it did homage to 80s music much better and more creative without sounding cheap and taking this goal too literal. I like 1989, but it's production is it's downfall in my opinion.
Guest
Lover is nothing short of a major disappointment, other than a couple of standout tracks.
HermioneT 1,998
Lover, for totally subjective reasons. I always thought I couldn't stand Taylor judging of the few songs of her I listened to by chance (radio or some playlist). Last summer, after y'all here discussed Lover in length, I decided to give it a chance. At first I wasn't convinced, but after listening to it a few times, I absolutely loved it. It became my soundtrack of late summer/autumn which was a transformativ period in my life. The months later I rediscovered her whole discography and also Red and 1989 resonated a lot with me. But Lover now already has a special place in my heart. She / hers
Guest
1989 always! It was just pure pop perfection, musically and visually, and I live for that. From Reputation I only enjoyed Getaway Car, Gorgeous and Delicate (LWYMMD was meh but the video was gold) and Lover is nice as a whole but not that memorable
