Agreed. I read an article a while back about how toxic gay fans are towards female artists. I probably would never have believed it if I wasn't a fan of Gaga's because other artists I have followed wouldn't have such a large % of gay fans. At the start, my impression was the LGTBQ community were her biggest and most loyal supporters. I wouldn't say that now. In fact I think the best thing she could do is lose a chunk of them. They don't deserve her. And don't get me wrong, other fandom are far from perfect and have a lot of infighting over who is the best member or who is dating who, but ultimately they are respectful when it comes to the artist (besides huge lapses of their privacy) . They certainly don't rip them to shreds in the regular. What is the Madonna fandom like? Is it the same thing? There’s so much toxicity and misogyny and hatred along stans that always goes unchecked. We are passionate about Madonna but I rarely associate myself with stans. There are toxic ones and others who are more focused on Madonna than anything else. I just try to move away from stan bases or stan debates because I really don’t like the idea of having to “prove” why you like an artist more and how “wrong” someone else is for doing so.
