Hot 100 position doesn't reflect what GP likes. If it wasn't for radio support, Hot 100 wouldn't even be in top 50.

The fans dislike it but the GP doesn't. Most people don't care about it, but outside of the fanbase nobody hates it. If it was promoted more I'm pretty sure it could have been in the top 10 for a couple more weeks

Nobody knows about this song, that's why it doesn't take off at all

Still don't understand why you think I should go around saying DSN is basic just because I like the song. :rip: Nowhere did I say it's not generic, nor do I think a basic song is necessarily a bad song as well.

The way you wrote it made it look like you hated generic songs, that's it:laughga:

I'm not good at understanding things and you're not good at writing down your thoughts, that's it :ohwell:

Of course it is generic. Would this question even be asked if it wasn’t generic? It’s a song that will easily be forgotten in her discography over time.

It the song that I really don't like from her.

It's basic.

I mean, I always like the old vibe, disco era.. but thins song is boring and nothing else.

And would I rather a novel, innovative, pots and pans sound like faceshopping than a generic pop song like Stupid Love on repeat. No.

Please ignore the spelling in username. I am a Beyonce stan afterall.

If you turn the clock back to 2010-12 then yes it’s very generic, but in the modern music world, it’s far from that.

I’m a simple guy to please, if you like Melodrama, we chill.

It's awesome, that you found a bop in that song. To me it's just not. It's literally my least favorite song of hers. Just Dance is more revolutionary and up to date and sounds more fresh than SL. :ohwell:

But however, glad you love it.. :vegas:

Just Dance is sad and bland compared to stupid love. Maybe it was something "amazing" in 2008, but now it's old and tired; like most of The Fame tbh :vegas:

Short answer, no.

Long answer,

The melody is similar to hundreds, the lyrics could be by anyone. Still gives me kids movie melody with comercial instrumental.

Its not generic, its awkward

It's easy and radio friendly but it also isn't on trend with what's in for top40

SL is perfectly calculated, it's crafted to be a total merge of all previous Gaga sound. There's everything we've heard from her pop sound in that song. The BTW chords, the DWUW heavy synth, the Bad Romance loud chorus vocals (the way she shouts "I want you stupid love" vs "I want you love and I want your revenge", even the lyrics are the same), The Cure high pitch loop, the Applause Bowie-esque vocals.

SL is also very loud which is very different from what we hear on the radio. Gaga is never generic because she has such a powerful and versatile voice that she succeed adding so much layer and content on a song.

I would say the biggest problem with SL is the lyrics, it's so... dumb. Why!?

So I would say it's generic for Gaga but not generic for the actual market. I do think SL is a perfectly calculated sound to announce and prepare for her pop comeback, the next single should be more adventurous (Babylon sound fresh as ****)!
