The news here in the UK said that Sweden deemed it was okay to be roaming freely rather than being in a lockdown  :selena:

Whispering

Right now we have little data on risk factors besides age. We have no real data on treatment besides supportive care with ventilation, and we have a soon to be overburdened health care system.

In the upcoming months we will start to get more data and perhaps treatment options, including some type of prophylaxis for health care workers, an increase in health care capacity, and more understanding of an individual’s risk.

Hopefully we will be able to selectively restart our economy then with the lowest risk individuals, some of whom will unfortunately get sick. (but might have more treatment options)

You are not getting the point. I compared the amount of covid-cases AND the lethality rates of Sweden in comparison to other Scandinavian countries and figured that Sweden's non-existant restrictions are going to push the country into a situation that will be comparable to Italy's, Spain's or France's right now (healthcare collapse, triage, skyrocketing death counts).

Denmark & Norway (even though they have way more relative cases in comparison to their population) seem to handle the crisis better as the current numbers of deaths suggest (That might change in the future however). That's what the point of the comparisons really were: Lax restrictions, low government intervention = many dead people. Ever since I made that post Sweden registered almost 1,000 new cases and another 50-60 deaths.

Also nobody even brought up China in any way, that is your own doing. Japan obviously lied because they were afraid of losing the billions they invested in the Olympic Games, China obviously lies as well (as one definitely should expect from a dictatorship).

You dont get the point. All the comparisons I've make put in questions if extreme measures like lockdowns are working. What for you "seem" to show that they work, my comparisons shows little difference.

The rise in cases and deaths of Sweden are comparable with other Scandinavian countries, when in put in context the difference in population. So why not difference when Sweden didnt take so hard measures?

And even you, even if you dont accept that Japan is telling the truth ( why the numbers didnt go up now that the Olympics are cancelled?), agree that South Korea managed to do this without a lockdown, so it's not just a way to deal with this.

South Korea's containment is largely attributed to mass-testing and previous experience in how to handle a viral epidemic. As long as mass-testing is not available, a public lockdown is the most ethical & successful way to stop spreading the disease. South Korea (and other Asian countries in proximity to China) are successful because they've been done though this already and have mass-testing capacities.

I'm not saying that countries should be in lockdowns forever, I'm saying that lockdowns are inevitable and should be upheld until mass-testing capacities are ready to go.

Japan has those to some extent as well, but matter of fact corona cases DID spike up in Japan after the Olympics cancelled (and is currently experiencing the typical exponential 30% rise every day). According to Japanese activist Ema Tanaka, "suspicious pneumonia deaths" were not listed in the statistics and and also cremated immediately so that no retrospective tests were possible. Not to mention that the Tokyo Metropolitan area (home to 30% of all of Japan) is under a lockdown already, similar to the ones you've been criticizing.

Also Japanese media pretty much unanimously agrees that the government failed to contain the disease and is now trying to buy time in Tokyo specifically with the lockdown. It's safe to assume that the lockdown will be shorter than Europe's overall, but if anything this is just proof that Sweden should have gone into one at least a week ago

Yea. The media all over the world wants people to stay home and watch tv. And politicians will do what people want, even if it works or not.

And that's the question. It is working or not? The numbers until now say the difference is really small. That's the discussion this article proposes. The fact that you think that some numbers are true and others arent is not important because no country has offered the liberty to do the test for virus to every person who wanted it. So we are discussing numbers strongly affected by the availability of tests.

Anyway, since the world is on lockdown, maybe we can fix also other problems. In the next 2 days more people will die of hunger than the total number of deaths from this.

With numbers like these, I fail to see the balance with this situation and I suspect that after some months more people will look back and regret some of these measures. I hope I am wrong.
