Trump downplayed the seriousness of the virus for over a month, until very very recently. There are MANY absolutely ridiculous things I could post that Trump has said regarding the pandemic, including claiming it was a conspiracy from the democrats. I would post more but you know just as much as I do what he's done. I'm not stupid, and I will assume you aren't either.

His role as the president of the United States is to take national emergencies such as this as seriously as possible and he hasn't. He's mocked the seriousness of COVID-19 during a very crucial period that has led millions of Americans to believe that it wasn't something to worry about and people died due to his ignorance.

And as much as I hate Trump, there is no political bias in this whole conversation. If Obama or any other democratic leader took the same route they would be just as much to blame as Trump is now.

The fact that he used the virus as a political tool is there. But I cant see the rest. 

I dont like Trump in any way or form, but by looking at how much is controlled by governors, it is clear that all states could have taken the measures they wanted. Even now, Trump isnt controlling that. 

It is also easy to go back a month or two months ago and see how the media criticises Trump for stopping travel from China and Europe. 

It is also easy to see how the criticism is changing everyday. First, there werent enough beds in hospitals. Then there werent ventilators. Then there werent masks. Then, Trump got the masks by hurting other countries. Now there arent enough tests, when US has done more tests than any other country. 

Even people like me who dont like him can see these things. I doubt that his supporters dont see them and Trump will sure show it to them when the time  comes.

Honestly everything shutting down has to do with fear mongering media and social media, and everyone’s general connectivity that leads to hysteria and the way we live now (more travel than ever) - no one gave a damn about h1n1 in 2009 - the world didn’t close like this. And that one killed a lot of people.

 

im not downplaying this one, I think this one is horrible (and worse) than h1n1 and more measures needed to be in place. Especially for those vulnerable (and frankly everyone as it can hit any age hard)

in the next couple months you’ll see the big push and the economy will resume - it will be restarted in phases so it will take a bit but it will likely be even more strong than it was before China decided to ruin everyone’s life. 

 

And I’m sorry but Trumps not to blame - no country was ready with supplies -- he did more than Obama - and he never said the democrats invented this (he did say he thought they tried to spin it to hurt him which that they did try to do)

The realistic death rate is estimated at 0,2% - 0,6%. If we ignore older people, the possibility of people in their 20s - 50s  dying last year versus this year is almost the same.

People who dont understand the effects of a bad economy should visit some third world countries. Not to mention that the effects of a bad economy are totally different than the effects of lockdowns. The problem is no one will count those victims and show the numbers 24 7 on tv screens all around the world.
