It was nowhere near this magnitude. This comment doesn't help anything.  People need to realize this is not a common event. I worked in preschools in 2009. We never had such a threat in 2009.

You said:

“When was the last pandemic you lived through? There has not been one in most people's lifetimes.”

So I simply stated a fact.

Posts like these still make me feel human with so many people concerned about economy. Thanks guys!

We should be concerned tho. The bottom 70% always take the brunt of the pain in downturns and many people already struggle with necessities as it is

It's not unreasonable to worry... A lot in fact

Believe it or not, deaths related to poverty in some way directly or indirectly happen a lot more than they should even in developed nations. It's just that it's such old news it does not get reported like deaths from an outbreak will

It's not like it's just economy vs life. It's not that black and white. There is a lot of grey and overlapping in this :ohno:

I'm not trying to downplay the Viruses threat don't get me wrong. But downplaying how little the economy matters relative to containment efforts can also be equally as dangerous

The world should revolt and those with no symptoms (most of us) should keep living as usual.

The mass hysteria, fear and overreaction across the globe is going to CRIPPLE the global economy, destroy businesses, lose people their homes, destroy global health systems, lose people their jobs - NOT the virus.

The elderly, those with health issues and those with symptoms - stay at home.

Everyone else should keep going.

And, you know, if you catch the virus - so what? If you're usually healthy and young, you'll be fine.

The annoying thing about the global lockdown is that it INEVITABLY will have to end relatively soon. And thus, it is in vain and totally pointless.

In a short period of time, governments will take this stance.

But the damage may have already been done to businesses and jobs.

The REACTION to this virus is the most catastrophic decision we have witnessed since WW2.

Scary, scary times - but not for the reasons most of you think.

This entire situation honestly just makes me more pushed away and have that much more distrust for most if not all of the world's governments as well as specifically the US media sources. As far as I'm concerned, they can all f*ck themselves. The way a lot of the world has been handling this is a disgrace and says a lot about our society and what our "leaders" are really all about. I'm not saying I have all the answers, because I absolutely don't, like honestly what the f*ck do I know, but I expect our leaders to be making the proper decisions and having protocalls already set in place for emergencies such as this. I expect them to be HONEST and try to HELP society move forward. Not cause and promote absolute panic, disgusting behavior between eachother, and create massive economical issues that will effect the WORLD and future generations if this continues in such a devastating path. Idk I'm just so irritated and angry over everything. It's all a mess and I'm trying to stay positive and do my part, but it's extremely difficult to have a constant positive outlook when all you see is a total downfall.

1) you can catch the virus and have no symptoms, so you can't know if you have the virus or not.

2) what about the young people who live at home with their parents? And it's not something that affect only old people

Yes thank you. Quarantine should only be extended to the elderly and those with pre-existing conditions. 264 million Americans can get this virus and will only need 4 days of bedrest, and then carry out their lives.

Business that employ mainly those under 60 should not be shut down, nor should colleges and schools. Those above the age of 60 should remove themselves from society, not expect the entire global population to shut down over a virus that has a 2.2% death rate across ALL age groups

The older generation is again being selfish, just as they are with climate change, and they are putting the entire future at risk for the sake of themselves.

That might be the dumbest **** I’ve read this week, thanks for nothing!

12,469 Americans died from Swine flu under Obama.

But so far less than 150 Americans have died from Corona under Trump, approximately 1.2% of the deaths compared to Obama’s handling of Swine flu.

These are some cold hearted numbers that you cannot bury or deflect.

So...16,000 Americans have died from Corona now in less than a month.

We aren’t even at our peak. We are still on the first wave, There will be others. Predictions are 80,000 dead at the very lowest minimum, and that’s just on the first wave.

Trump failed the US and its people.

These are some cold hearted numbers that you cannot bury or deflect.
