Today we have Welcome to Night Vale, a surreal horror and humor podcast. 

Welcome to Night Vale is a podcast taking place in the fictional town of Night Vale, a desert town where the moon is full, the sun is bright (but can't be trusted to set on time), and there are strange lights above the Arby's. Quite romantic, these lights, but I digress. 

Welcome to Night Vale is told as a radio show by Cecil Palmer, the radio host at the Night Vale station. 

Night Vale is... Strange. To say the least. The town is seemingly plagued once a week (if not every day) with some terror that threatens to destroy the entire populace!

... But that's everyday reporting for Cecil Palmer. 

With the all powerful secret council, angels who are not angels, a faceless old woman who secretly lives in your home, and of course, real estate deer and condos, and of course the might glow cloud (all hail),everything is a bit strange. 

Even to the point where no one worries about the alien overlords and the temporal reign. 

With several arcs done, several books out, Welcome to Night Vale is a strangeness loved by the world. 

It's also impeccably proLGBTQIA. Cecil gushes over Carlos, the scientist. With his perfect hair and teeth like a military cemetery. And the sheriff identifies as non-binary, using them/they in every appearance. 

For those who enjoy the mix of strangeness, magical realism, horror, and humor, there's several podcasts like it. 

Dreamboy follows Dane, a gay musician as he finds himself in Pepper Heights, a town maybe too perfect, and gets embroiled in the drama of a missing girl and Zoey a zebra who killed a young boy. 

Alice isn't Dead is about a trucker as she chases her beloved wife, Alice, who isn't dead. The trucker herself, is chased by Thorn, a creepy man who kills wherever he goes. 

The Orbiting Human Circus (Of the Air) is a collection of curiosities, a show broadcast from the top of the Eiffel Tower! Starring! A Janitor! And a sad one at that!

Average episode lengths: around 25-39 minutes. 

Gay: Yes. 

Rating: Mature, but not for sex or language. More for blood and REVOLUTION!  But Cecil and Carlos are really horny for each other in some episodes. 

Also there's an angel, who is black, if that sweetens the pot.
