Are Humans & Federation The Last Major Power In Star Trek?

For any Star Trek fans here. On the new Star Trek Picard which is set decades later towards the turn into the 25th century is seems like the Federation led by humans is the last major power left in our entire section of the Galaxy

Decades earlier there were 4 major powers:

Romulans: This secretive and skeeming race no one could trust was an advanced adversary always playing chest so to speak and they were powerful. But ever since the blown up sun destroyer their main home world they are scattered. While dangerous Romulan groups like the Talshiar and Zhat Vash still exist. They aren't half the power they were

Cardassians: Once relatively powerful the Dominion completely crippled their main home world and there is no evidence they ever fully recovered their status

Klingons: The Klingons also took a huge beating with the Dominion and lost most of their fleet. Corruption in their empire was also weighing them down. Did they ever recover? Them so far not having shown up in Star Trek Picard could suggest they aren't as big of an importance as they once were but then again, they could have recovered and simply don't matter to the story :oprah:

The Federation: Led by humans and to a lesser extent Vulcans, it is an alliance of dozens of species and hundreds of planets. While no one single species on their own has power quite as strong as the other 3, their combined power is irrefutable. However their nobleness and ethics seems to be taking a hit towards end of 24th century and compromising and giving in to inhumane decisions for their sake could suggest a decrease in the confidence of their security. Yet they seem to remain the biggest power in the entire galactic region of the milky way?

Well... the galaxy is biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigggggggggggg x 100 ….

the story centers around a federation hero …

fate of the other empires isn't really part of the events , but may be hinted at during episodes ….

It could be that the federation is still recovering from its encounter with the Borg, and have had minimal contact outside of regions already discovered …

no new exploration missions since there aren't enough ships … Starfleet has limited resources ...

maybe....

I know it's big hence why I said in this part of the Galaxy :emma:

And the biggest damage with the Borg happened many decades prior especially with the battle of Wolf 359

And then later on sector 001 (earth during first contact)

But the biggest loss came after that when the Dominion war crippled a lot of their fleet just like they Crippled Cardassians, Klingons and to a lesser extent the Romulans

The Klingons and Cardassians took the heaviest damage (especially Cardassians because their actual home world was crippled not just their fleet)... But the Federation lost a good 40% of their fleet I think it was

It could explain why more former powers are keeping to themselves. Everyone is busy rebuilding :oprah:

The Borg are capable of more destruction than the Dominion if they wanted to but, they never sent more than 1 cube to Earth at once that's the difference and theres no evidence they came back after the incident in First Contact movie tho we don't know that for certain

That's all good...but it takes decades to build fleets.. and as technology advances upgrades take time and resources .

The federation was permanently damaged by such heavy losses,, as were the other races..

Agreed, makes sense

I'm just saying I think the Dominion was a bigger problem than the Borg

I rewhatched DS9 recently. The number of destroyed ships went into the hundreds on the Federation alone while Borg encourters was a few dozen
