Dem Establishment Would Rather Lose to Trump To Keep Their Grip on Party

Well, if the party leadership picks the nominee over the voters and we get Trump until 2024, at least the 2022 midterms will be a bloodbath for the GOP?  Because frankly, I'd rather Trump until 2024 with a Democratic House to block his worst impulses, then flip the Senate in 2022, and then stomp the GOP nominee in 2024 with blue Texas and have a federal trifecta, rather than snag the presidency and House this year, not flip the Senate, and have a solidly "meh" 2022 midterm, because God only knows if we'd be able to flip the Senate under a DemPrez.

BUT, regardless of whether it would be strategically a good plan to leave the Cheeto in Washington, if the Dem leadership chooses the nominee over the voters' wishes, I hope the party explodes so we can have a three-party system at least instead of a two-party deadlock.
