'Chromatica' Discussion - ACT I

Is anyone else secretly hoping the delay will cause her to ditch the "tribes" concept, and present the album in a totally different way?

I don't understand how her team can look at the way Paper magazine elevated her Chromatica ideas, and then return to the Katy Perry Does Power Rangers aesthetic.

Why is so hard for her to let her art speak for itself? It's not like she's gonna be out and about. From what she told us, this album is about love, union and feeling good. The album is very needed at the moment.

I mean.. you also have to think single promotion.  Think about the second single.  What if it's the Ariana collab?  You can't wait like two months after the albums release to put out the second single.  The hype will be lost and we would be robbed of joint performances with the two..  That's just one thing.  Not to mention you can't record music videos in the midst of this pandemic.  We'll get the album, but absolutely nothing else.. at least for a while, but the hype wouldn't be there.

That's COMPLETELY taking sales/money out the equation.  Even if money wasn't an issue, the era still wouldn't get it's full potential.  It's more than just the 16 tracks.

It's truly fine. Just another era full of disappointments on her behalf. I'm used to it. I really wish my other faves will release their music as planned. New OneRepublic in April and new Hayley Williams in May.

The lashings in that Instagram post! :ladyhaha:

Honestly tea

It's not gonna happen but I just don't get the difference between paper magazine visuals to the tribes. Maybe that was just for Stupid Love MV?

Apparently, the official line from her camp has changed around the 'tribes' already.

She didn't / doesn't want them known as 'tribes' anymore, and is - reportedly - actively asking her people not to represent the idea in that way.

Added to the virus and the state of the world, it's likely she could choose to move on from the idea altogether, since it's about division. And although the intention of Chromatica is to heal that division, the concept might not sit well with Gaga right now.

I think also, generally, a lot of fans have overlooked how the concept of this album (including the tribes) is most likely why it has been delayed. She probably didn't feel comfortable releasing an album about 'cancelling' the world and calling out its divisions right for now.

Had the album not had this theme, I think she would've still released.

The idea of Gaga talking about tribes and 'battling for your life' right now may not have been received well. I mean, there was (is?) even an MV for Babylon due, which would've tackled the same themes - based on the lyrics, that is.

The delay, then, is most likely to create a new direction that isn't so hinged on societal concepts - as well as for promo reasons.

It's a shame because, personally, I loved the concept. And I think what we will get now will be ultra removed from the narrative of 'fighting' for Chromatica.

She just delayed the album for something unprecedented.  She isn't perfect nor is anyone else and the standards some people have for her are unrealistically high.  Honestly, compared to everything else on her "disappointment list", this is extremely low at the bottom of the barrel.  Funny how you enjoy people lashing at someone who you look up to... kinda vicious..

The delay is 100% due to coronavirus. Sorry to break it to you!

I am entertained for sure. After days of worrying about my grandparents who could possible die in the next months because of this damn virus I was able to forget about reality for a few minutes. :ladyhaha:

@TheJoanneHat if you're that upset about fan reactions then don't come here anymore I guess :rip:  Gaga delayed the album and fans have every right to be upset, there's nothing more annoying than fans condescendingly dragging other fans for being upset. Not saying some of the stuff people say is okay but still.

Besides, tensions seem to finally be dropping down, there's no need for that kind of energy

Okay, but there's a difference between being upset and being an asshole.

We're all upset. No one wants Chromatica to be delayed, but there are ways of expressing your feelings without being childish, immature, and disrespectful.

No one's saying that no one should have the right to be upset, but if you're going to be upset, have the decency to at least express without resorting to say such harsh things.

Honestly, there's nothing more annoying than "fans" feeling like they have the right to say such awful things about the artist they supposedly "love".

Just re-quoting this whole thing because it needs to be heard in the back

If this is how some people treat the person they love then how tf do they treat people they don't like?

It's disgusting, some people should be ashamed of themselves and really need to grow up.
