I have to reiterate that Lady Gaga is not the same celebrity she was before 'Shallow' was released/ASIB premiered. She has proven that she knows how fame works and as painful as it was for me - and I respect that it wasn't for others - to see her take such an elongated break from the provocative artistry she used to dominate the pop music industry from TF > ARTPOP, that calculated plan clearly worked out as best as she could have hoped. Beginning with a jazz covers/collaboration album with Tony, to years of stripped-down performances that highlighted the strength and versatility of her talents, to scrapping the original LG5 for a rushed, simplistic era that ultimately faded away after only 2 singles... it culminated in her becomng a global superstar with 'A Star is Born,' winning 5 Grammys, an Oscar, and earning her first #1 song since 2011. 

She would not risk that reputation and status when she could easily continue her widely acclaimed residency and transition into makeup and acting full-time, unless this was going to bring the Lady Gaga brand of art to a new high. We can't compare this to any past era; she has so much to lose and she wouldn't tarnish the reputation she built since 2013 on an era that debuts with a #15, and sizzles out after a 2nd single. I fully expect Stupid Love to debut in the top 5 of the Hot 100, and whether or not it climbs higher, the 2nd and 3rd singles - and the album - will all be amazing and consistent in sales/charts/acclaim.
