Dems worried about a Sanders nomination

Featured Posts

WASHINGTON — While congressional Democrats share in their party's overriding goal of defeating President Donald Trump in November, there is growing concern that their efforts to retain a somewhat fragile House majority and hopes of winning control of the Senate could be hampered with Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., at the top of the ticket.

Democrats worry that Sanders, a self-described democratic socialist, and his policies are too liberal for the broader electorate they need to win in states and districts that Trump won in 2016.

In particular, they are concerned that having Sanders at the top of the ticket could drive away suburban voters who favored Democrats in the 2018 midterm elections in the nation's small number of closely divided districts and put potential Senate seats out of reach in GOP-leaning states.

...

Asked about concerns among Democrats on Thursday, Sanders told reporters on Capitol Hill that if Democrats are going to defeat Trump, "we're going to have to get young people a lot more involved in the political process" and "expand minority voting. And I think we have a campaign to do that."

If only polling didn't show him doing well in those exact places we lost to Trump in 2016 like Michigan and Wisconsin and the "down ballot" argument made any sense

(Also, 2018 midterms were clearly an election about healthcare and entitlements, not about "centrism" vs "progressivism" as ideologies. Suburban voters came out to protect their healthcare and other issues, not to give a stamp of approval towards incrementalism. Dems win when we have a righteous thing to fight for and the will to do it, not when we say we've already lost before we even start)

They are right. Sanders wasnt the one that helped moderates win back The House.

Did any progressive won a battle against a republican incumbent in a red state  in 2018?

This is like the Republican party in 2016. They wanted anyone BUT trump and see how it turned out. You have to be FOR something or someone because if you're AGAINST, you're still giving it energy. #TheSecret lol

The problem is Americans are too labels focused. If they actually listened to is policies, suddenly the MSM looks like circus clowns for trynna say a Democratic Socialist is a monster

Bc they're clueless. The way no one in countries who have universal healthcare complain about it :laughga: In some instances, choice makes no sense. Like would they feel better if they had the choice to draw breath bc “muh murican freedom!!”? Pls!

Thats because that's the only truth they know. Some people who want this for instance they dont understand that their taxes may rise.

At the end of the day, pete and other moderates strategy is better. Show people that this works better and they will make the decision to go this path. Dont take their choice from them.

Implying that M4A isn't billions of dollars cheaper than what we currently have :oprah:

It's not free if we already pay the taxes for it. It's just instead of having that money squandered away by a selfish government, it's used to benefit the tax payers.

I'm a person and the person that I am can change 🥀

It's cheaper to raise taxes than to pay insurance
