The Democratic party just pushed back the release of voting results after using an app designed by a former Clinton campaign manager and a company whose CEO Buttigieg's campaign manager is married to and that was paid money by the Buttigieg campaign, and in the middle of this confusion Buttigieg attempted to capitalize on the confusion by claiming that he won in a way that was worded vaguely enough to grant him plausible deniability if he actually came in second.

And your response is "Ahh, we'll get the accurate results eventually, no big deal. Nothing to see here. Wasn't Pete's speech dreamy? "

I personally don't see a problem with him declaring victory if his team thinks that they have won based on their internal polling. Nor do I think that he or any candidate has an obligation to substantiate any claim they make based on their internal polling while we wait for these results. 

That's the thing, we don't know if they even think they won, and they could very easily be claiming victory for something they know they DIDN'T win. If for example, he won in one area, but not overall, getting out ahead of things allows him to piggyback off and spin his speech anyway he wants to were he to have not in fact won outright. He can say "well, ___ is a victory isnt it?" and go from there. He didn't say "we won in every respect", he said they were victorious but was vague on details on purpose. In fact, he could know that he lost the delegate count, but had impressive success in some other manner.

Previously, Biden and Buttigieg campaigns were worried Bernie would try to claim a victory b4 the results were out, but the irony that they did it isn't lost on me either

Watching Yang’s speech now. He doesn’t stand a chance, but I really like him and his wife. I hope he stays in politics and ends up in someone’s cabinet if a Dem wins!

They just said he was viable in 77% of 83% precincts. 

The Bernie campaigns numbers are the ONLY results we have IF accurate.

I think I agree with some of this. I don't think they'd declare a "victory" in that scenario, but I can definitely see them declaring a victory if they outperformed their own expectations or if they came in a strong enough second. But that said, I don't take issue with the language he used in his speech whether it meant he won or it meant that he did well. I don't see why that would be problematic or inappropriate.

That statement just said he was viable in 83% of the precincts and that’s the only hard number we have. This isn’t a winner takes all race. Only losers are decided here. You can be victorious and still not get the most delegates. Notice the ambiguity of the word “moving on victorious” and not the clear speak of “we won the most delegates @ x%”.
