I’m officially writing in Bernie if he doesn’t win the nomination

Please don't, as much as you might despise Biden, we cannot lose sight of the ultimate goal: Unseating trump.

If you think Biden's plans for the country aren't great, just imagine how much WORSE Trump's will be.

Just so it’s clear. I posted this article to point out that despite Bernie repeatedly saying he will support whoever the nominee is as he did last election, people like Biden feel entitled to Bernie supporters but do not return the same in exchange. It shouldn’t even be a question so I’m told. We should be voting for the democrat no matter what. I just find it incredulous that when some people get to say “ehh maybe,” that they get a free pass but when *I* say it here in GGD, I am vote shamed by the VBNMW cult on GGD.

Everything you said here is 100% accurate and true. The double standard is REAL against Bernie supporters.

Not if Bernie sweeps Iowa, New Hampshire and Nevada which is looking VERY likely at this point. That type of momentum will easily destroy Joe's southern "firewall".

This is gonna be a long drawn out process. Democrats don't have winner take all primaries. They are awarded proportionally. Biden's a lock in the South, will it be enough, who knows.

I’m registered in New York, although if I was still registered in my home state of Missouri I probably wouldn’t write him in. I can afford to take an ideological stance against Corporate/Centrist Dems in a blue state

I just told you that is going to dramatically change if the scenario I stated plays out. No one has won both Iowa and New Hampshire and not gone on to WIN the nomination in the HISTORY of the United States.

Yea but that doesn't mean you should. People thought the Blue Wall was safe until it went to Trump. I don't think we're going to lose NY, but wouldn't you rather stick it to Trump?

If the DNC tries some trickery to screw Bernie out of the nomination again if he wins the most pledged delegates, then no, I would actually rather stick it to them than Trump if I'm being 100% completely honest.

Obviously if another Dem nominee wins FAIR and SQUARE then I'm more than happy to vote for them over Trump.

We definitely wont lose NY lol. It’s a blue state through and through. And no, I would rather stick it to the Centrist Democrats if my vote doesn’t hold that much weight. Again if I was still in Missouri, I would probably suck it up and be a salty bitch that votes for Biden

It depend on how he's (Biden) is treated.  This isn't helping.

You guys are cherry picking facts. Stop trying so hard.

The HYPOCRISY and bitterness.

Bernie committed literally on stage at the debate, and has continuously committed, to supporting WHOEVER the Democratic nominee is. To support any of the candidates on stage, as well as do all he can for them to ensure they win in November should he not be the nominee.

That commitment came with NO STRINGS ATTACHED. Even after Biden and others have tried trashing him.

It's literally on tape. Go see it for yourself.

Because he cares about defeating Trump no matter who the nominee is.

Yet you don't see Biden or others making that same commitment. They throw this weak sauce "it depends how I'm treated" nonsense that Bernie would never spew.

But by all means, continue to run with this fake "vote blue no matter who" and "unity" argument that is only ever used against progressives, and especially Bernie in particular.

Apparently though, for all these "moderates" and centrists (who are really just establishment people who wish to keep things as they are to protect them and their donors), it doesn't hold suddenly if Bernie is the nominee.

And that's because he actually challenges the status quo and has their donors scared. God forbid that happens. In fact, these people would rather Trump win again than Bernie be elected, because at least they get to keep the numbers in their bank accounts.

Which, at the end of the day, is all that really matters to establishment politicians and the donors who control them.

It's a primary. If you get your feelings hurt by your primary opponents pointing out your trash record, then politics is not for you. Get out, or Trump will knock your weak a** out.

Ikrr?? Like we need look no further than the absolutely vile and dirty things Hillary and her team did to Obama in 2008 including releasing that picture of him knowing full well what they were doing, and how Obama had no problem forgiving and forgetting by the time he got the nomination.

That's politics. Lots of people play dirty. He should get tf out if he can't handle criticisms of him.

If anything he should be grateful Bernie doesn't play dirty how Hillary did and would never stoop to those kinds of lows to go after him.

Besides, Bernie has plenty of stronger cases against Biden on policy and Biden's atrocious record  :ohwell:

NBC literally released a delegate estimate this passed weekend that showed if the Super Tuesday primary were held then, Biden would MAYBE get 100+ more delegates than Sanders. And that’s not taking into account if Sanders sweeps the first three contests and potentially South Carolina. That momentum will be hard to overcome and Biden can’t afford to enter Super Tuesday limping. And a recent poll came out in California that had him barely viable for delegates at 15%. Hell, if trends hold up with all these polls, he may end up not even being viable in Iowa or New Hampshire.

Yup. It's very clear that a lot of centrist would rather a Republican president than a left wing one. Pretty sad. Can you imagine how much Bernie would be trashed if he lost the primary and didn't support the winner?

This is why when ppl say he has a better shot at beating Trump than Biden because he energizes the crowd and would increase voter turnout among supporters... I take that with a bit if a grain of salt because that's not the ONLY factor to consider here

U also gotta factor in the votes he'd loose from centrists who'd rather vote from Trump than a Left Wingers that would offset some of the higher turnout to get an actual full picture

Although someone did point out that since he's by far the most popular among independents it may more than make up for any centrist voters he looses

Guess we will just have to see

Ill vote whoever the nominee is:staymad: we cant lose to trump again. Vote blue no matter if its Bernie,Biden, Warren. Unity , cause repubs hated trump yet they showed up in droves cause a supreme court seat will be up soon and they stole our other one in 2016.  Lets give em some karma!  A new american majority who will retire trumpism. In Michigan trump won by 11k votes and a total of 177k helped him win . We gotta unite against this tyranny and hate..:staymad:

Unfortunately, the leaders of the Democratic party don't believe in unity is the problem.

We've always known it was a fake messaging scheme, but here its just becoming more and more blatant.

At this point, it seems like even if Bernie won they wouldn't let him become the nominee.

But I'm sure some people here would find a way to support that because of their own personal inclinations w.o being critical of it :rip:

Case and point trying to argue that Biden might not support nominee because of... how's hes treated?

Is Joe Biden actually so petty that he would risk fracturing the Democratic party's chances of winning because Bernie's team pointed out that he has a shitty record on social security cuts? :rip: If so, then he does not deserve to be the nominee, because he doesn't have the best interests of the people of the democratic party at heart. When they all decided to run they had to sign a pledge saying that they would run as a Democrat, not run third party, and support the nominee if they lost. Bernie has repeatedly confirmed that he would support whoever the nominee is and all of the centrists are fearmongering about Bernie winning and saying things like this? How can we say that the idea of  "party unity" and "vote blue no matter who" NOT just a crutch to levy against progressives now, if moderates are allowed to violate it whenever they see fit

You would lose your damn mind if Bernie said "I can't commit to supporting Joe if I lose" and you know it.  In fact, if he does lose and doesn't send Joe his head on a platter with an endorsement in under 24 hours, people will STILL lose their minds screaming unity.

Meanwhile, back in reality, Hillary waited to endorse Barack until it was definitely over, and she didnt even have any inkling of election rigging as an excuse, she suggested that he might still get ASSASSINATED and she could win.

Let's be completely fair here tho. Bernie had always run as an independent most of his career. He has never been a typical democrat and he's had to use the democratic platform to have any chance of winning

The whole unity thing... He's not really a democrat, only by name and on paper now. The last few decades he was never a democrat :emma:

i think the double standards are petty and unfair but I'm also not entirely surprised the party has not fully accepted him...

hes someone that up until running for presidency didn't identify as a democrat so there's gonna be that rift...

If your gonna use a party you never identified with to increase your own chances of winning a presidency, some resistance may be expected regardless of whether ur a positive force or not :awkney:

to be clear this is not to defend Biden's nonsense. I'm just pointing out why Bernie in part may be getting treated differently by the party cuz ppl cant seem to fathom a reason why
