my god. Gated reverb nope. To start. Also the bass that everyone thinks is '80s' isn't, it's just a stock analog bass. It's a pop song. jesus.

"Synthwave (also called outrun, retrowave, or futuresynth) is a genre of electronic music and an internet phenomenon influenced by 1980s film soundtracks and video games.

According to musician Perturbator the style is mainly instrumental, and often contains 1980s clichéd elements in the sound such as electronic drums, gated reverb, and analog synthesizer bass lines and leads (Synthwave artists and producers typically use vintage equipment from the early/mid 1980s, as opposed to sampled sounds) - all to resemble tracks from that time period."

Pop music stands for popular music, and the pop scene atm is either billie-pop, that same hip hop/trap crap, or tropical pop which always gets a free ticket to the charts

80's bass?  electronic drums?  retro synth?  gated reverb?

It has synthwave influences, and I listen to a hell of a lot of outrun/synthwave/80s music.  It's one of my favourite sub-genres! But you can't sit here and say Stupid Love sounds like a song by NINA, Miami Nights 84, VHS Dreams or timecop1983...

The track has some influences and similarities, but it ain't strictly that genre. Sometimes the "pop genre" encompasses the artist, it goes further than the music - it stretches to the production, how the vocals sound, the melody of the instruments, or the vibe the song gives off... Stupid Love fits with the pop genre fine. It's not as "clichéd" as synthwave

It has synthwave/outrun elements (such as the arpeggio); however, I wouldn’t call it a synthwave song per-se.

Like, this would be a great example of synthwave as it has those slightly retro sounds that accompany the beat

however, Stupid Love doesn’t sound retro it all. It’s a very modern sounding song. I would say dance/synth pop would be the primary genre, while synthwave would be it’s subgenre

You can look up Body Talk by Robyn if you want more of these (especially call your girlfriend)

These songs are on a whole other level than SL though lol. But SL is great too

Ugh you all really trying so hard to make that simple pop song a special piece of music. It’s just a pop song with some Synth/Dance influences that’s it.
Gaga is a POP- musician. She adds some little influences here and there

but this song is definitely just a cute pop song with mediocre lyrics.

Its synthwave inspired pop music, not solely synthwave.

This ^

And it's also EDM. Why you gotta pigeon-hole her into one genre?
