But I remember having my iPhone on do not disturb and the test alert still came through, bc its an emergency thing so it doesn't care if your phone is on do not disturb

I don't get why nuclear plants still exist. To me, they all seem like ticking time bombs. Like, didn't we learn anything from Chernobyl? Well, to be fair, the nuclear plants we use now are different from Chernobyl. They are modern designs which way more safety guards and less chance of an accident But yeah it's never garanteed But it's hard. Ontario still gets 51% of its power from Nuclear... Wind and Solar are intermittent (in winter our sun hours are short on top of that) so it's hard to rely too heavily on it. And hydro is largely maxed out as most favourable areas are already dammed If we tried to replace the half of our electricity that comes from nuclear... It would be hard to fully avoid fossil fuels. We already still use a bit of natural gas to fill in gaps when wind and solar drop

Yeah I assumed that at first too cuz almost every time the alarm is an Amber Alert But I chose to double check anyway and when I saw nuclear alert I wash shook

Because the nuclear energy is the only energy that we can create massively, at any time, on demand, without emitting any greenhouse gases maybe? Despite a possible accident it's the cleanest and most stable energy we can get. There is no alternative to the nuclear. Not to mention that the nuclear field is super important and needed because the researches in nuclear fusion would allow us to produce almost unlimited energy without C02 emissions, without radioactive leftovers and without any safety threats like the current powerplants
