Nuclear Plant Disaster Red Alert Sent To Canadians By Mistake

After Routine inspection and training exercise somehow an Alert from a nuclear power plant in Pickering (near Toronto) saying there was an accident and evacuation could possibly be required was sent to people in Ontario.

 

It's unclear if something small happened and got accidentally blown out of proportion or if nothing happened at all but either way the ministry says the red alert warning was sent by mistake and that South Ontarians don't have to worry

I didn't get the initial warning while sleeping but I got the take back of the warning message on my phone which they sent 3 times and ruined my Sunday sleep in

 

Such an annoying alarm too I wish I turned off my phone last night

I got scared the first time I heard the alarm go off on my phone cuz I was half asleep still and the only part my mind took in from the message was "nuclear accident in Pickering" (not far from my city) and I started freaking out

 

Then I saw that the message was actually taking back an earlier red alert that had been sent (but I hadn't gotten it) and I was so relieved and went back to sleep

 

Then the next 2 times the alarm ring went off to confirm it was a mistake just pissed me off cuz I was trying to sleep and everytime I managed to fall asleep that loud alarm went off again

That must have been so frightening. I would FREAK TF OUT if I got an alert on my phone like that. I can't even begin to imagine what the Hawaiians went through when there was that accidental alert about a missile a couple years ago.

That alert woke me up in the middle of the night  I didn't even bother checking my phone though  When I woke up and actually read the message, I was like

My phone was on silent thank god, I slept through the whole thing 

Super dumb that it even happened though, like get it together.

Well at forest I thought it was a missle

 

I saw the red alert and then I saw nuclear so I thought it was a nuclear attack from Iran

 

I know that's a big reach but when u see an official warning from the government on your phone and things are tense with Iran it's like, frightening 

 

Then after a couple seconds I saw it was about a nuclear plant in Pickering not a missle which freaked me out even more cuz I was hoping the middle attack at least was far away but this nuclear plant is not far from where I live so then my anxiety got even worse

 

Then I finally took it in as my mind was waking up that it was a false alarm and they were taking it back and I felt this instant calm of relief in my body that I hadn't felt in ages

Well to be fair most of the time that alarm goes off its just an Amber Alert that we can't do anything about. When I heard the alarm before I looked at it that's what I assumed it was

Yeah, I just read about that. Must've been pretty scary.

Can you imagine if it was real though? I don't get why nuclear plants still exist. To me, they all seem like ticking time bombs. Like,didn't we learn anything from Chernobyl?

My phone wasn't off but I genuinely didn't hear anything

 

Either I didn't get it or I slept right thru it

 

I only got the messages saying it was a false alarm after the issue is I didn't realize right away it was false alarm and I got freaked out

I was asleep when I got the message and I literally just glanced at my phone and thought it was another missing child and went back to bed...

I'm horrible, I always ignore them in the middle of the night  My phone just vibrates on the nightstand and I'm annoyed more than anything
