Wow, I was thinking a lot of the Trump vote came from sheer apathy. Or a non-Hillary stance. Assumed his presidency would make lots of ppl think "what have I done?" I'm shocked that people vehemently LOVE him, despite the mess Get the pinot ready, because it's turtle time.

Here in Canada we can't believe that as much as 40% or more of Americans support him it's seems unbelievable In most other developed nations his approval rate is probably 10% at best

I'm shocked that people vehemently LOVE him, despite the mess If I’m being honest, I don’t think anyone really knows how popular trump is or isn’t. Even in his strongholds. We’re in a completely different era where traditional polling methods are questioned because of 2016. I think current Republican senators are going hard for trump because of the assumption that, in 2019, a vote for a Republican senator is a vote to support trump, not conservative ideals. Actually, the Senate doesn't have anything to do with impeachment. That's purely the responsibility of the House. You're referring to the trial, which comes out of impeachment proceedings passing in the House. Regardless of whether Trump is acquitted and removed in the Senate, he will still have been impeached and only the third impeached President in US history. Wouldn't everyone want him out? Including the Republican senators? Because he's not a great face for the party. So wouldn't they want him out so that a stronger leader can come forth with a candidacy? I'm thinking that would give them a better change in the upcoming election; someone other than Trump. 43 minutes ago, LateToCult said: I’m sure many Republican senators secretly despise him for making their jobs more difficult, but the people that voted for them love trump so they’ll support him all the way. Some surely want him out or despise him yes I agree, but in my opinion this will be more of a democrats vs republicans thing than a fair vote taking Trump's actions in consideration. Hopefully I'll be proven wrong if/when the Senate vote will take place

I'm shocked that people vehemently LOVE him, despite the mess Well, yes and no. a Lot of it was just flat out racism, misogyny, etc. Like truly studies showed a direct correlation between a persons receptiveness to bigoted rhetoric and tendency to deny the existence of things like racism/misogyny and their likeliness to support Trump But, some of it was anti-Hillary, "lesser of two evils" bs. Hillary is a war mongerer and has done a bunch of terrible stuff and said bad things too, and I canvassed for her pretty enthusiastically after it became clear to me Bernie wouldn't win the Nomination... However, its really telling that the things that undid her (beyond her bad campaigning) were Benghazi, and her emails. Two things she actually wasn't responsible for. It's really right out of the Nazi playbook to take massive lies and generalizations and play on misconception, lack of education/awareness, and bombard people with so much propaganda that the semblance of wrongdoing supercedes any sort of logical processing of information. Basically, it was "all this stuff keeps coming out, surely some of it has to be true" - and even Democrats feel that way. Now, that is obviously fallacious, overwhelming information does not itself suggest whether something is true or not, but... we are an uneducated populus Unfortunately, economic disparity and income inequality promotes susceptibility to fascistic tendencies and rhetoric. It's not a judgment, just an observation: People would not have listened to Trump if there was not a gap that needed to be filled in their lives politically, and with a figure like Trump that speaks their language, it was a recipe for disaster. In 2012 and 2013 some Democrats even suggested that Republicans had a narrow shot of ever winning a presidency again because the party had been thoroughly rejected in the Obama years as a sign that racist rhetoric wasn't captivating anymore, and that dog whistle politics had finally come to an end. That being said, Trump won by doubling down on the racism and bigotry, so honestly, expect the next Republican President to follow his example if Dems continue to elect and nominate Centrists. 私自身もこの世の中も誰もかれもが, どんなに華やかな人生でも, どんなに悲惨な人生でも, いつかは変貌し, 破壊され、消滅してしまう. すべてがもともとこの世に存在しない一瞬の幻想なのだから
