LateToCult 41,869
The House of Representatives is currently debating the articles of impeachment towards Donald Trump. After they do so for 6 hours they will vote. You can watch live in the link below: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nytimes.com/2019/12/18/us/politics/impeachment-vote.amp.html A lot of people are under the impression that Trump can be removed from office today. The answer to that is no. If the House votes yes today then this will move to the senate where a 2/3 majority vote will be needed to remove him from office. Not gonna happen. Today is as far as Democrats can go with impeachment. Figured I might as well make this thread since nobody else wants to.
Lucas 31,136
And Senate has a majority of Republicans so... won't happen sadly.
Gov Hooka 8,008
This will make Trump fume even more. Cannot wait for his meltdown. That being said, I’m more concerned about the fact that the White House has now further limited the number of people that can listen in on important phone calls in the name of national security. Who knows how many more times Trump will abuse his power now that the chance for another whistleblower to expose his clownery has greatly decreased. Word got out that he’s actually worried about having the impeachment asterisk on his legacy for the rest of US history.

Reginald 13,841
If our f***** GOP representatives would do their job of protecting the United States constitution, they would remove him from office. This should *not* be a partisan issue when a sitting president breaks some of the highest laws in our country. It's showing just how corrupt our elected leaders are. I'm sick of it. PoshLife 17,019
A very somber day for America. The House is doing what it must - holding this President accountable and maintaining the integrity of our Democratic institutions - but it brings me no joy and I know that feeling is shared in the House of Representatives today. I don't celebrate the fact that it's gotten to this point, but it has, and I'm proud of House Democrats for taking their oath of office seriously and standing up for our constitution and our country. This is not a happy occasion, but it is a very important one.

The Senate majority leader, McConnell, has already said that he is not unbiased and impartial in this impeachment effort, even though the oath senators take for the impeachment process does require you to say you'll be impartial. Dems were damned if they did and damned if they didn’t. Nancy genuinely wanted to avoid this but Trump made impossible for her to keep ignoring him. The point of this impeachment process is to show that she’s doing her job.
