I didn’t realise Toronto summers were just as hot and humid as ours! But the thing is that our summers go on forever...like even at the start of winter in June there are still 30C days! That’s why autumn is the best, because the worst of the humidity is gone, but the nights are comfortably cool yet the days are still warm. Melbourne, Canberra, Perth and Adelaide (which are in the southern part of the continent) have a climate similar to Portugal and the Mediterranean, with hot and dry summers. I think I prefer that type of weather instead of what we get in Sydney...it always seems so unsettled here. Depends. Toronto temperatures can vary a fair bit in summer... Summer's where northern air masses dominate a lot can have a lot of days at a comfortable 24C to 25C... While a lot of hot days with air masses from Gulf of Mexico means temperatures if 30C to 34C a lot of days (these tend to be the more humid days too so the humidex goes above 40C a lot) Some summers are worse than others tho. There's really no telling how had it will be. Since I work construction I always hate the heat Ppl are surprised to learn how hot at times it can get here... The climate definitely changes at a faster rate the further up north you go during the winter... In the summer the changes of temperatures and climate by latitude is less significant For example Toronto vs a Texas city in the winter might be a 20C or 25C difference but in the summer the average difference is maybe 5C or 6C

Sydney is quite mild (and average for the country) with a typical winters day having highs of 16-19. Basically the northern half of Australia gets a summer 12 months of the year, the only difference between seasons is rainfall/humidity/cyclone activity which dominates the summer months. And you can’t go swimming at that time in those parts of North Queensland and the Northern territoy because it’s jellyfish and crocodile mating season. Conversely, Tasmania’s weather is more like New Zealand’s. Victoria and NSW are in between. While the great part of the interior (the Outback) is bone dry and hot like the Sahara for 10 months of the year, with short but cold winter nights. Yeah in the summer the sun is further in to your hemisphere which would reduce the difference in temperatures by latitude In the winter when the summers direct angle is in the opposite hemisphere, the amount of sunlight starts to drop a lot the further u go towards the poles so I think that's why Literally here in North America 1000KM will only change the average temperature a few degrees in the summer but in the winter the change is very significant So I'd imagine the same happens in Australia
