Thanks for the great comment! Generally I believe in the power of organized labor and collective bargaining but you have provided more context and now I'm not so sure the strike is worth supporting

I don't support the part about the special schemes but I'm totally understanding people mistrust about the whole reform.

That reform was meant to be unpopular by definition. But the government made it worse with a lack of communication, clarity and pedagogy. They ****ed up.

I hope they'll explain this reform in the next few days so we (the nation) can judge if it's a good or a bad thing in the end.

This reform will also create more discrimination towards women. Their pension will insanely decrease. It's the same situation for teachers from public schools.  This reform will destroy a lot of social gains. The strike is not only about the end of special schemes.

We already know that this reform is a bad thing. Sweden has the same system of pension. Their pension decreased a lot since their reform. We don't want the same situation in France. That's the reason of strike.

+ the media are only focusing about the end of special schemes. No. This reform will change a lot our pension system (and in a bad way).

Amen to that! It was so blurry that many people thought "why can't they be open if the reform is so damn great?". These fishy manners didn't help for sure!

Yes most french medias were presenting it pretty much like a special schemes reform for weeks even if it's a reform that goes WAY beyond special schemes... People already thought the government was fooling them but with the media not honestly representing the reform it didn't help.

And this change is the main point of the reform yet it's the one that masses had to put a focus on with these strikes or it would have been wrongly presented as a special schemes change more or less. :toofunny:

The Swedish pension system is VERY different from what we will have. The only similarities are that it's based on "points" but the mechanisms behind them are pretty different.

I recommend you this article, it explains pretty well why the comparisons with the Swedish system aren't relevant and were just used by the opposition to create fears
