Hybrid AT 78
Pete Buttigieg, whose presidential campaign has been steadily gaining ground in Iowa over recent weeks, now sits narrowly atop the 2020 Democratic field in the first-in-the-nation caucus state, according to a new survey. A Monmouth University poll published Tuesday shows that the South Bend, Ind., mayor is the first choice of 22 percent of likely Democratic caucus-goers â outrunning all other rivals in Iowa for the partyâs nomination to challenge President Donald Trump. Former Vice President Joe Biden ranks in second place with 19 percent support, followed closely by Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts with 18 percent and Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont with 13 percent. Although no other candidate cracked double-digit support, 5 percent of likely caucus-goers favored Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), while 3 percent preferred Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), billionaire activist Tom Steyer and tech entrepreneur Andrew Yang. The remainder of the Democratic pack achieved 2 percent support or less. Buttigieg has seen improved performances in several recent Iowa surveys, climbing into the top-tier of White House contenders and jockeying among Biden, Sanders and Warren three months out from the first nominating contest. He ranked in third place with 13 percent support in a Suffolk University/USA TODAY poll released in October â behind Biden with 18 percent and Warren with 17 percent â and in a Quinnipiac University survey last week, he trailed top-finisher Warren by only 1 percentage point. Buttigiegâs showing in Tuesdayâs poll represents a 14-point gain in Iowa since Monmouthâs most recent statewide survey in August, when he was at 8 percent. The Monmouth University Poll was conducted November 7-11, surveying 451 likely Democratic caucus-goers. The margin of sampling error is plus or minus 4.6 percentage points. The momentum is REAL. As days keep passing, he's becoming a more viable contender for the nomination. First openly gay President of the United States. A dream, literally a dream.  I'm LIVING "I was protected by the monks of Azarath, I was raised by my friends. They are my family, this is my home and you are not welcome here." Othon 34,299
Let's be clear: This is one poll. He's polling in single digits nationally and has next to zero traction outside of Iowa. Almost literally zero support from people of color. He's the candidate of rich white liberals and would be polling at zero percent if the press hadn't constantly propped up his campaign with fawning coverage for months. More importantly: the guy's a dishonest conservative working for the billionaire class. He's sold out every single moderately progressive position he held at the start of his candidacy after taking millions from billionaire donors: Imagine voting for someone like this. Embarrassing. ALGAYDO 35,062
Iâm honestly so glad that an openly gay man ran for president. Younger me wouldnât think itâd be possible. I just wish it was a good gay man. I canât believe Iâm actively rooting against the USâs first openly gay presidential candidate lol but identity politics is so flawed, Iâm glad most lgbtq people can see right through him and are supporting better candidates

MACATL 2,125
I'm sure some folks said these kinds of things about Obama too... Â Anyway, Biden for general election, and no one else. You can root for any candidate you want to. He isn't here to please every single one of you because he can't. Also, Victory Fund, the largest pro-LGBTQ+ political organization that works to elect LGBTQ+ democrats has already endorsed him but go off with your few friends who don't support him and throw blanket statements around like that I guess.  "I was protected by the monks of Azarath, I was raised by my friends. Even Obama diplomats are backing him. "Nearly two dozen former ambassadors who worked for President Barack Obama abroad see a commander in chief in the South Bend, Ind., mayor and are using their fundraising connections and stature in Democratic circles to build support for him. " âI think a lot of peoplesâ view about Buttigieg, among ambassadors, is very very impressed with him and his voice ought to be heard,â Phillips recalled. âSo we called our friends who are ambassadors to be co-sponsors and thatâs how we got, I think six or seven or eight [ambassadors] on the first fundraiser.â âI think whatâs interesting here is that people are gravitating to his campaign given that you have Joe Biden, with whom many people in the national security establishment have worked, and heâs a known commodity. But you do see this other, up-and-coming candidate who has gotten a lot of interest,â https://www.politico.com/story/2019/09/09/pete-buttigieg-ambassador-support-2020-1479225 Also, he's the only candidate who has received more donations from the State Dept, Justice Dept and the DHS than anyone else and second highest from military members, behind only Bernie. Biden is a distant third/fourth everywhere. "While former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. Elizabeth Warren top most 2020 presidential democratic primary polls, the candidates of choice for most national security employees are Sen. Bernie Sanders and Mayor Pete Buttigieg. https://foreignpolicy.com/2019/11/08/2020-presidential-election-democratic-candidates-national-security-employees-contributions/  "I was protected by the monks of Azarath, I was raised by my friends. Lol which world are you living in? His support among African American voters is low because of low name recognition compared to Biden/Warren/Sanders. Everyone except Biden is struggling with black voters. Also, his campaign is working hard. So when you see his African American support growing over the next 1-2 months, don't start crying. He's best positioned to take and chip off Biden's support. They won't go to either Bernie or Warren. You guys are so delusional you don't even realize that. Sad! Look, I know you support Trump and they aren't all "communist sympathizers", probably just democratic socialists but yes, they are salty because he's rising and is now a threat to Bernie/Warren. That's the only part I agree with. Bernie isn't a communist ffs. He calls himself a democratic socialist also. There's a huge difference between the two.
