“Do you wanna see the girl who lives behind the aura?”, The entire deconstructed Gaga image we see in the Applause video and in the VMA performance (her showing is her as the artist creating the image, instead of being fully immersed in it), and the album concept being both a reveal of one of the core concepts of her career and one that provides thematic closure for the first four albums of her career as well (The Fame being Gaga commenting on celebrity vs. ARTPOP Gaga’s voice as the actual artist with the platform)

Thank you, you're absolutely right. All you have to do is read into the early ARTPOP imagery. There was that video of her in brown hair looking angry (her natural hair) and she threw off the blonde wig. The blonde wig was what the world had come to know as Lady Gaga, distinct from how she saw herself at this point.

You could see the entire "return to roots" theme begin with ARTPOP which was true in a sense musically (back to electropop like TF unlike much of BTW) but was fully realized with Joanne.

I'm sorry, but is this coming from the same person who has basically changed her whole persona and artistry after she started to show signs of commercial underperformance and mixed critical reception? :reductive:

The music she made for Joanne wasn't reactive. She was always making this kind of music. Look into her history as an artist. So many outtakes could fit on Joanne.

And she didn't do Jazz for image. C2C was in works before ARTPOP was even released. She recorded C2C before Applause was even released. We have studio pictures that were later featured in the studio videos released on YouTube. Our girl performed a Mashup of Someone To Watch Over Me (jazz standard, she still sings it at J&P) and Bad Romance back in 2009. So please. :triggered:
