Billie Eilish going green on world tour

What’s with all the negative comments? Airplanes and tour busses? How is she supposed to tour then? How is she gonna make her money? And how is she gonna do it in a green way?

This isn’t the ‘90s, artists don’t make money from music sales anymore. Artists have no choice but to tour if they wanna make money, and if touring is bad for the environment, then does that mean artists are destined to go broke in the streaming age? GTFO here!!

That's enough. A no-straw policy, IMO, is either misguided (many people believe that these kind of things are the biggest problem when it comes to the environment), or intentionally misinforming to get free positive publicity without doing much. Using a tour bus within the US and within Europe instead of flying for all crew and staff would actually require a sacrifice (time).

Actually flying would be much better than a tour bus, but to make it effective she could fly economy class instead of a private jet

A tour bus is much more environmentally friendly. One person flying from Los Angeles to New York City in economy class pollutes 0.7 tonnes of CO2 (but the high altitude doubles the actual damage from flying, so 1.4 tonne is better for this calculation). A tour pollutes 0.47 tonnes of CO2 for the same distance (2790 miles). In practice, the difference is even bigger because distances will usually be small and thus planes will have to start up and go down more often (=way more pollution) and the plane ticket will usually be business class or even a private jet.

It‘s incredible. She trys do to something, yeah maybe it will only have a small impact. But at least she makes something. I guess you can do everything but people will always find a way to throw hate on you. Very sad...

Also, it‘s funny how the haters only speak about the straws and not the fact that she will work with experts and makes the tour as green as POSSIBLE!

P!nk did the same with Reverb during the Beautiful Trauma tour in 2018 and 2019. You get a refillable branded water bottle and plenty of spots to refill it, so they eliminate the need for single-use disposable water bottles.

My friends volunteered with Reverb for the tour and you get a ticket to see the show + merch!

thats not gonna do anything, but you go girl. it seems very hypocritical tho, cuz all the CO2 shes gonna put out by flying, using tour busses and trucks etc is a much bigger problem

 

did she not say she's bringing in a specialist to keep the tour as green as possible? god when someone is vouching for positive change there's always a negative person to find fault
