I loved it but it wasn't good from a vocal standpoint, so it gets a 7. The Grammys: Here, she was over darkening her vowels. The placement of her voice seems like its coming from the back and she's not letting it come to the front. This could be her choosing as she wanted to do more of a rock version. However, to do the climax of the song, she had to change the placement of her vocals or it would have gone flat... and thats how the crack happens. Again, could be her choosing or just vocal fatigue The Oscars: This one was actually okay. I think there was around a week or so between the grammys and the oscars, pretty tight. But her vocals are more nasally, bright and forward placed here. Its already an improvement from the grammys, most of it is on key. The only issue here could be put down to vocal fatigue - she was literally just off from an Enigma leg during both performances so its obvious he voice will get tired. She doesn't pronounce every word "I'll nefa eet the groooound". The climax on this song is actually okay, but due to vocal fatigue she can't finish the phrase (almost like she runs out of breath) and even strains a little. Then the second meet is like a shout to get the note, and strains on that one too. The rest of the song is okay, especially when Brad comes over and things are more calm and relaxed. As I said, the other ones were perfect (10), and "Shallow" a 9, I guess? KatieJudasGaga4 67,907
Shallow has better performances like the shows in December and the Apollo Theatre, so all of them are a 10, but the Shallow performance is an 8.
aussypat 73
My personal rating would be Sound of Music -> Bang Bang -> DWUW -> Shallow -> Star-Spangled Banner. However, I think that public perception is really important to consider here too. If you add that in, then I would say Sound of Music -> Shallow -> Star-Spangled Banner -> Bang Bang -> DWUW. Remember when sound of music happened and everyone was like wait gaga can sing??? Then the bradley and gaga romance was a huge public thing, and there was a huge controversy with gaga singing the national anthem and the amount of time it took her to complete it. Then finally Bang Bang had minimal impact but did influence older jazz-oriented fans, and then DWUW is a performance that is loved by fans but hidden from the public eye.
