What qualifies as a mass shooting though? Do the numbers include all types of gun violence such as gang shootings as well, or just shootings by alt-right folks?

The most widely accepted term seem to be that a mass shooting is an incident that involves four or more people who are shot in one location at roughly the same time. Wikipedia link with additional sources

Gang related shootings, organised crime, and drug shootings seem to be excluded .

I believe a lot of it also depends on the type of firearm used—in these cases, usually a semi-automatic weapon that can pump out hundreds of bullets within a minute.

People who don’t want to pass gun control laws are part of the problem. The shooter is to blame, of course, but the fact that so many Americans don’t care enough to pass gun control laws are part of the problem too. I’m so ****ing tired of hearing “thoughts and prayers”. Make actions damn it!

In Malta, we never had mass shootings. We have concerns sometimes, but we're not terrified to this extent. Fact: Guns are illegal here. I agree that evil people always find a way how to make evil things, but that doesn't mean that you don't control what you can.

This is not a post about trying to compare countries or who is better, etc. I greatly respect America and honestly, it breaks my heart that innocent people are going through this mess. Again and again. My thoughts are with these people. But more importantly - and I guess everyone knows this - those in power need to do something for everyone's sake. Now. Else, I don't have hope that America will change for the better. 

I was in America. I think that it's not safe anymore tbh. I hope that something is done for everyone to feel safer. This is just sad and disappointing.

These past two days have really made me put a lot of things into perspective...it's beyond the point of pain and suffering.

Something needs to be done NOW. Those that are sitting around making excuses for politicians and pro-gun lobbying individuals are complacent to these crimes...YOU have blood on your hands as well!

We have GOT to vote these people out! We have GOT to change this and pressure those that are able to change to do something! We have GOT to ban assault rifles and military-style weapons!

This is horrifying for a nation like the US to continue to let these things happen

can a knife kill 9 people and wound 26 under a minute? what is your point? criminals and junkies fighting and killing each other is not the same thing as homegrown terrorists targeting schools and malls and places of worship, to kill as many of innocent people as possible??
